Hi friends! Today I am going to show you how to draw and paint this daffodil:

All you need is a waterproof pen, watercolor paint and watercolor paper! Let’s get started!

Supplies:
Koi Watercolor set of 24 Amazon has the best price $20.26, they also have the best price on all sizes 12-48 pan sets, Blitsy has it for $30 but they offer free worldwide shipping when you spend a certain amount OR Simon Says Stamp sells it for $36 and they also offer shipping to most countries

Strathmore watercolor cards #140 cold pressed
I get the 100 pack of 5″x7″ size because I go through a lot of them and it is the best deal on Amazon, But other sizes and assortments are available. Blitzy has the best price on the 10 pack of 5″x7″ for $7.64 (but it is more expensive than buying in bulk on amazon)

Waterproof pens (Faber Castell Pitt Pens in Sepia color)

Other: I clip my watercolor cards to a scrap of foam board with binder clips as I find 5″x7″ watercolor cards don’t really need to be taped down on all 4 sides unless you want a white border on them.

I hope you give this tutorial a try, if you don’t have a waterproof pen you can sketch in pencil, paint with watercolor and add the pen lines on top for a similar result. Use what you have or you can use my special discount affiliate links above to purchase exactly what I used. Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

PS I really needed this spring painting today because this is what I woke up to! C’mon Mother Nature, take a hint, it’s Spring already LOL!

  1. Now I see what you mean by “it’s snowing”? WOW! I remember some years( in the 80’s ) back in upstate New York that it snowed in April. Got 3-4 inches of snow. Didn’t last to long but it was sure pretty. That very same year that it snowed we got a bumper crop of apples and pears. My mother in law made lots of pies. 😎

    1. If you have any watercolors around use them, maybe you can borrow your kids set and use any pen you have. Make it work with what you have, even food coloring:)

  3. Lindsay, Here in north central PA our trees have finally started to bud. So, hang in there. Spring IS out there, it just hasn’t hovered over Maine yet. We have daffodils in bloom right now. Your picture is beautiful. It is so lifelike. Thanks for showing us how it’s done.

    1. I enjoy watching all your videos and am learning a lot from you. I don’t water color, but want to begin soon. Thanks for all your help. And, Happy Spring! I live in the Upstate of S.C. and we are having some nice days with lots of flowers. Daffodils have stopped blooming here already. Blessings
