Hi friends! Today I want to do some coloring and show you some ways to use alcohol markers in your card making and crafting. You might enjoy coloring a stamped image in markers but did you know you can also use alcohol pens to stain and dye embellishments and ribbons? Today I will share some of my favorite techniques to get you off and running even if you have never picked up an alcohol pen before!
Watch the video to learn fun and easy techniques that will have you coloring in no time!
This video is sponsored by and features Color It markers! Save 10% (on EVERYTHING at colorit.com) with coupon code: frugal10
50 piece marker set and coloring book page from Color It (the page I used is from Calming Doodles Volume 1)
Black & White cardstock
Adhesive (double stick tape, hot glue, foam squares)
Washi tape (optional)
Stamps & Ink (Cling Daisy by Stampendous, stamping ink Tuxedo Black by Memento)
Tip! If you are unhappy with your coloring you can always adjust it by overlaying colored pencils on the marker colored image. This technique is also helpful if your marker collection is small. If you are not sure what mediums are for you and you want to try a bit of each Color It offers a fun bundle with 48 pencils, 24 markers in a carry case and a coloring book!
1. Color a section of a coloring book page to use as designer paper. I used a page from this Color It coloring book.
2. Stamp flowers and color as shown in the video using the Color It Set of 50 markers
3. Fold a 10″x7″ piece of black cardstock in half to make a card base. Trim the coloring book sheet to fit along the edge of the card. Cut out flowers.
4. Assemble the card using double stick tape, hot glue and foam squares.
5. If you used black cardstock for your base adhere a lighter paper within the card for writing your note.
Recycling Tip! Instead of writing inside the card, jot down your greeting on a Post-it note and stick that inside, that way the recipient can reuse the card spreading the joy further! Think of where you card could end up! Not in the trash, that’s for sure:)
I hope you try out these techniques with the supplies you have and if you are in the market for a beautiful set of high quality alcohol markers I hope you will consider this set from our sponsor Color it. Since I first discovered their high quality coloring books nearly a year ago they have been a favorite in the Weirich household (even my non-artsy son like to color in them!) and since then they have come out with more coloring books, sketch pads, colored pencils, pens and markers. They really have crafters at heart and you can tell they love what they do by the quality on their products.
