Another Quick Fall Landscape, Creative block & 20% OFF Lifebook!

Hi Friends! I hope you don’t mind another quick, beginner, Fall watercolor painting tutorial:

14570605_10207398850594897_3270648733999613235_o

It was such a beautiful fall weekend that we took out the kayaks and I managed to snap a few decent pics for the foliage on the pond and I based my tutorial on them.

linnys_fall_pic2

The tall pic is the same bunch of trees I masked in the tutorial, I think the composition is more interesting tall. You can paint it however you like. I picked the landscape version because it filled the video screen better but in retrospect I like the tall one better.

linnys_fall_pic1

Here is the tutorial, more of a quick sketch but we use the technique for masking on the rocks and trees so that is worth something I guess. I was excited to use my new White Nights paints that have been collecting dust for a couple of weeks on my desk. I will have another tutorial/review coming up this weekend on those:)

If you are only here for today’s tutorial you can stop reading. I am going to ramble a bit, just a warning:) Oh and if you want the 20% off discount for Life Book 2017 scroll to the end of the post.

Honestly I was not that happy with how the painting came out. If I have to be honest I have not been that happy with the way a lot of things I have been making have turned out lately. You should see the pile of crappy scraps (UFOs-unfinished objects) on my table right now! I have been feeling overwhelmed and uninspired lately, and tired. Maybe I have a bit of burnout, or maybe it is just the change of seasons making me feel glum, maybe I am fighting off a cold, I have no idea. I know I am always trying to cram too many things in a day and then I feel disappointed in myself when I can’t complete them. For the past week I have been trying to keep a reasonable schedule and allowing myself adequate time to do the stuff on my calendar. It seems like reason has no place these days, everyone seems panicked and stressed-out online. Experts and consultants tell me I need to grow my audience on social media meanwhile I’m thinking that I already have a freaking awesome community and I need to grow my skills as an artist and create stuff that is worth your time to watch. I want my YouTube channel and blog to be valuable to you. For some time now I have been thinking and feeling that this YouTube social media game is just a contest of who can yell the loudest and get the most views instead of providing value and real community. I was feeling a bit disillusioned I guess. So there it is. For the past three years posting a new project every day was inspiring and fun, but there have been times when I felt “oh, I need to post something today, oh no, I have no ideas!” like I am a kid trying to get perfect attendance or something. So now I am thinking “Hey, I’ll post something if I have something worth posting” and pass on mindless filler that helps no one. Of course, then again sometimes I make something I think is wonderful and nobody else does or I will post something that I think is super simple and it is a hit. You just never know.  One thing I know is that YOU are awesome and I want to develop my skills and make tutorials that will enhance your day and inspire you to create. It has always bothered me that YouTube (a platform that I am very grateful for to be able to use for free and has allowed me to reach so many people) encourages us and rewards us for keeping people glued to the screens and I want people to grab their paint and stamps and whatever supplies they have after watching one of my videos and create! I want you to DO not just watch. I know I feel better when I create and I feel bad when I just watch a screen.

Maybe I am over thinking all of this, what do you think? Bottom line is there might be a video every day, or I might skip a day or two from time to time. I am not sure if anyone would notice a missing day if I didn’t say anything about it but you are my peeps and I like to keep you in the loop. That is all I guess, til next time happy crafting!

PS. Yes there will be a live show on Friday 12:30pm ET, it is my favorite part of the week!

PPS. I almost forgot to mention the deal! I just got word that I can offer a 20% off discount to anyone wanting to join Life Book 2017 if you click this link and use the coupon code FIREWORKS2017 you will receive 20% off the class price. AND if you already bought the course they will refund you the 20% or give you another free course so no worries to the early enrollers. You can find out more about LifeBook and see the amazing roster of teachers here, I am so happy to be involved this year!

Really, that is all I have to say today:) Thanks for stopping by and listening to my rant, honestly I do feel better:)

  1. Hi Lindsay, I think you do help people. A lot. I’ve thought a hundred times to myself I don’t know how you do it. I make soap and do a lot of things, but I can’t make a you tube video or create a blog and commit to that to save my life. My kids say, mom you should sell this soap, and I say lol to who?
Anyway, yes you do help. The reviews are nice and I feel genuine. I have ordered the Mission Gold watercolors. (Waiting waiting for them to get here from S Korea)
I had signed up for Wanderlust when they posted and later saw you have a class so that’s great! I guess, breathe sister. We all need to sometimes step back and take a good look. So that’s good you’re asking. Feedback is always good! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟have a great evening Lindsay and do something kind for yourself tonight. Hugs

  2. Dear Lindsay, I am an old lady so I am just going to tell you what I think and you can do what you want with it. You do so many good things for all of us that watch your blog. I look forward to it every time tho I am not much of an artist I still learn things from you. It sounds like you have been pushing yourself waaaay to much. Those of us who watch you regularly will understand if you need to take a break or limit the number of videos you do. Your health and your family need to come first before us. I agree that it is easy to get too busy with all the internet stuff available. sometimes you just gotta limit it so you can get yourself back together. hope that will be helpful. with love Betty

  3. I just finished watching a blog hop by Hero Arts about their planner stamps, etc. What I realized was that, while fun, colorful, and crafty,I need more white space on my own calendar! I appreciate what you offer, but I would rather have less than have you burn out!

You are the one that makes me go and play instead of keep on watching. So please don’t stop posting frequently ! There is ALWAYS inspirqtion coming from you. Thank you for that.

  7. I think you rock. You are very creative, and everything you do is more than I can do so I am impressed. Everyday, every other day, who am I to say how often you should post? I watch all your videos, I love all your videos, and I create what inspires me from your videos, other people’s videos or my own ideas. As long as you are not gone completely I will be happy. I especially love your reviews of products, and your honest advice and encouragement. Not too many artists are telling us to use what we own- most are telling us to go spend tons of money and buy the best. Your ‘frugal’ mind set is one of the qualities I love best about you.
PS: you do not need to respond to this email- I am sure you will be swamped with comments!

  8. Lindsay, I can honestly say, you do what you need to do that keeps you HAPPY, INSPIRED and JOYFUL! All the other stuff is just noise. You are such a generous person in the art world, a great mom and I’m sure wife and community member, that those who really know you, want only for you to be happy. And same goes for your social media followers, like me.

As for numbers, especially with youtube recently, part of that is a glitch that all my youtube channels are talking about, I just unsuscribed to them all and then immediately re subscribed and now I get updates and such. If I want notification, I just need to click the little bell when I resubscribe. Regardless, numbers are not life, so don’t let them rule your passion. Do what you want. Be happy. And know you are so loved, no matter if you did another thing on social media or not. (Ok, I would cry but I would make the sacrifice if it was what you wanted, lol!) Thank You, Thank You, Thank You 💖💖💖💕💕💕💟💟💟, love, Anne

  9. Dear Lindsay, I cannot begin to tell you how much I have learned about art and art supplies since I subscribed to your channel 2 years ago…. I use colored pencils, watercolor pencils, watercolor, pastels and recently tried oil painting ( I did the cherries on a plate and really like the results) because you always make it fun and make it look easy.. I always watch most everything you post.. I am grateful for all that you share, you are a fun teacher.. Once I was in a.c.moore and heard a woman talking and I said to my husband I know that voice and I searched you out and introduced myself,,I felt like I had met a celebrity, because I did… So please don’t burn out,,,take care of yourself and your family.. Do what you can, when you can,you are too good an artist to just throw something out there for the sake of getting it out.. Many thanks and blessings, Pamela Smith

  10. Life is punctuated by phases. I think you are entering a new phase in your life. It’s time to do what makes you happy and serves both you and your family. I, personally, have completely reinvented myself and started a whole new life—twice— and each time involved a cross-country move to a new home. Once when my first husband died suddenly, and then again when I remarried and moved to Maine. Ignore the chatter and listen to your heart. You’ll figure it out. 🙂

I will hope that you continue your videos but let a few days go by when you need to take time for yourself. I love when you mention things you have done with your family and show photos of your beloved Maine.

  12. Lindsay, you and your work is awesome. Art has no judge and no deadlines and “yelling the loudest” is not high art. It is yelling for yelling’s sake. Pull inward and serve your own talent first. We benefit the most when you do!

  13. Read your personal note at the end. I think your idea to not post a tutorial each day is good. I know I don’t have time each day to do it.

I also agree with mixing it up with occasional interviews, art based day trips, art challenges, etc. Variety is the spice of life!

In the meantime, I will be putting you in my prayers for renewed energy and vision.

  14. I’ve only been watching your videos for a couple of months and I am still working my way through your library. I’m new to crafting and am learning SO much from you, I can’t thank you enough. Long, short, complex, simple or just plain silly, every video you do is relevant to someone. You really have no idea how many lives you touch. But you touch lives because you love what you do and it shows. When it stops being a labor of love and just becomes labor, what’s the point? You need to make yourself a priority and take care of yourself. Take a sabbatical if you need; rejuvenate your body, mind and creativity. And know that you are well loved and appreciated!

Just today, I was getting so frustrated with my art (which I hardly get time to do) and then I remembered you saying it should be fun. And so I looked at what I was doing as “what can I do to make this fun for me?”. I am so grateful to you for that. I will be happy with whatever frequency you decided to make videos. Those experts need realize we better appreciate you being happy to make videos for us not obliged to make them. ❤

  18. Never mind what “they” say you should do. Quality wins over quantity every time, and having a larger audience will mean nothing to you if you’re not happy with the projects you create for your viewers. I’ve looked at a lot of coloring and art videos, but your channel is my favorite. I like your enthusiasm, and I’d hate to see you lose that. You’re a great teacher and your videos are fun to watch. But I surely don’t mark my calendar to make sure you post one every day! You need a schedule that works right for you. If you dread it, you may as well be stuck in a job that you hate. Beat and stomp on that schedule until it behaves! Seriously, take a deep breath and give it some thought, and you’ll find the right balance. Thank you for all that you do. Take care of yourself. 🙂

  19. Hi Lindsay!!

I haven’t read the other comments yet… I just wanted to give you my thoughts without being influenced by what others are saying… Now i have a knack for saying the unpopular thing….. so bear with me… and take it with a grain of salt… after all i’am not you..

I will take quality over quantity any day of the week… So i would shoot for better content than worry about posting every single day…

I miss the variety on your channel…. I know you do have some but i can almost guarentee you that a new video that pops up from you will be a water color…. I really thought you were more of a crafty channel… I miss the jewelry making etc… Now i realize that perhaps your watercolors get the most hits and that would be okay with me if i used water colors lol …

As you know i miss the Ask A Crafter… that may be impossible to do now as perhaps Kathy and Lorraine don’t want to revisit that… Shoot maybe just go back to where only you were on screen answering the questions… but not in a LIVE show… please not a live show… I know i know Im in the minority… most people seem to just LOVE the LIVE shows… lol

I’m not looking for content geared toward kiddie crafts… I want something a little more mature…..

All these things i miss but the one thing that keeps me coming back is you sunny personality… your smiling face and your obvious talent girlfriend!! I hate to think of you down in the doldrums over this… Just keep being YOU and it won’t matter how you decide to rework The Frugal Crafter…or if you even do…. YOu put up a video and we will watch! Hugs! deb

Just read your latest blog/newsletter and I must tell you how much I appreciate your YouTube tutorials.
I just found you yesterday and have watched hours already!
I am a beginner with watercolors and your tutorials are invaluable to me. I have paid for lessons that had a lot less content!
I started the Pear painting today and can’t wait to do more.
You have inspired me so much in one day! Don’t you find that remarkable? I do!
You’re a fantastic teacher and I look forward to many more tutorials, so please don’t be discouraged or overwhelmed because I adore you!
    Take care of yourself!

  24. In my opinion, videos every day are too overwhelming for me to absorb the techniques you are showing.
I don’t claim to understand the complexities of making a living from art, but so much content makes me feel like I am not doing enough practicing. Other artists I follow are usually once a week posters.
Burnout is a real issue even for your audience. Thanks for sharing your feelings. I hope you can find the balance you want and need.
I remember when my business was becoming overwhelming, a wise mentor told me to raise the dollar value of my minimum orders. I lost 1/3 of my clients, but the improved attention to detail and service I was able to provide kept my bottom line the same with 1/3 less effort.
Happier me, happier clients, happier cash flow.

  25. I know that whenever I’ve gone down the “should” path, I’m not always happy. People tell me I “should” do this because it’s more money, more prestige, more this and more that. But a “should” decision often ends up taking its toll on me. When I go down the “I Want To” path, I’m more align to my hearts desire. You sense inside yourself what would be more fulfilling. So I guess have faith that your heart and gut will lead you down the right path. Maybe it’s time to break the routine. Take some days off. Let your passions and interests energize you. You definitely should feel proud of what you’ve accomplished. You’re amazing!!!!!! You’ve made me feel that yes–I can attempt new things and be creative. Without breaking the bank. Since I’ve shunned that “should” path, I have to be more frugal. I gave up a stressful 6 day a week job for part time 3 days a week. So I totally get it if you need to slow down the pace and focus inward. Take care of you and yours, the rest will fall into place.

You obviously have a huge and loyal fan base, we aren’t going to stop following you and run to so and so’s channel just because you post less frequently. After all you do have hundreds (hundreds of hundreds?) of videos people can go back and watch to get their daily Frugal Crafter Fix 🙂 Perhaps you might try turning off that camera and doing some arty stuff just for your own enjoyment without out any guilt of “I should be filming this!”. Heck I can’t even keep up with my “save to try later when I have time” folder of your vids! So Relax! Have Fun! Regain that Mojo! And remember you are a Brand Staple NOT a flavor of the month so no need for a frenetic pace.

I am I admit addicted to your posts, particularly the Watercolours. You have given me the confidence to take up this hobby and I always learn so much from you. What direction do you think you want to go in? Are you missing crafting? Is your pull towards Watercolours? Could you do pay up front painting tutorials on line (I would pay). You have a fabulous personality and a talent for getting information across. Would I mind not having a video posted every day, yes. Would I mind not having you around at ALL, most DEFINITELY. It must be quite lonely spending all this time on us. Maybe more you time and people contact would lift your spirits. Whatever you do I want to thank you for coming into my life, take time give yourself a break and look after yourself. Julie x

  41. I believe doing a video everyday is not necessary. It takes a lot of time to do a video, it is not just filming what you do, but there is editing and uploading too. This takes you away from the things you love to do and things you need to do for everyday life, putting pressure on yourself which could result in you no longer enjoying making art. I follow you because I like your art, not because you put out a video daily. If you feel like doing a video then do it, if you don’t then don’t. Do what makes you feel happy. Art to me is all about having fun.

If your body and you’re mind are telling you to back off, re-think, re-assess, then do so before you really burn out.
What I’m hearing is that you are doing too much, the returns are close to nil, and you’d rather be somewhere else.
A little vacation from the treadmill won’t hurt anyone and will definitely re-energize you.
As for your followers we will miss you but, speaking for myself, you have plenty of tutorials to view and re-view. I often go back to your lessons a few times over, because there is so much valuable information to be absorbed.

Soo, take it easy kid, and do what it is right for you. (It might take a little while to figure it out, but that’s the journey.) :*)

  48. Hi Lindsay,
I am glad to read your thoughts and even frustrations. One of the things I have learned from you is to try – the most important. The next most important to me was to realize that when I paint with watercolor my goal is not to create something of photographic quality, but that it is a representation and i don’t have to work on the detail. I have a long way to go and I honestly watch much more than I DO, but I will get there and my small attempts are getting a bit better. I love that I have learned enough that I can share with my grandchildren (Grands) and they they can do it without being frustrated.

I love the daily installments, but I had been wondering how you do that ..how you keep it up. My faves are the watercolor tutorials and I look forward to the day that I can manage the Friday LIVE presentations LIVE. I will admit though that I have bought some peg stamps … never thought I would be interested, but I like it and am learning about that too. I keep saying I am going to do a daily sketch … not there yet, but I want to get back into being creative.

i am looking forward to full time RV type retirement in a few years and I decided that watercolor and sketching is the small, creative thing I can do … small because heck, I’m going to be in a very small camper.

You need to take care of Lindsay or you might burn out and then we would lose you altogether, so don’t post daily unless you have something you want to share. I LOVE the simple ones! The more I can share with my Grands the better I like it. I love your chatter and sharing during the tutorials, especially the hints and the explanations, and that you actually know what you are talking about and are wiling to share it for FREE. Thank you!

  50. Hello, I liked your rant. I can totally relate to all that you said. I’m a new artist with very little skill. Your videos excite me and I’m mesmerized at some of the things you do and the ease of which you do them. They inspire me to try and create. I find myself doing 2-3 of your paintings each week. They don’t always turn out the way I want them too but that’s ok because I’m learning. I would more than be ok with a video every few days or just when you wanted. You have enough on youtube now that will keep me busy. I absolutely love the live chats. Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing your talent with me. Sallie

  51. Hi Lindsay, I don’t usually comment but just wanted you to know that you are the most dependable person out there…There are others I like too but all too often they come and go as they please even though they make promises to post… I don’t want this to sound negative because its not my intention…I love to click on Lindsay and know she will be there…I am learning so much about water color but have so much to learn and I know I may be behind everyone else, but maybe a real beginner like how much water to mix and how much water on your brush.
I also would not want what you do to become too much of a job and not an enjoyment…
So take a break… post less often if that is what you need…
I find this world way too demanding these days…
Maybe we all need to step back and relax
Take care of yourself and family first…
I will miss the every day but will only be more anticipation for when you do post…
No one else post everyday, take their example…

  53. When I retired, I got bored with reading all day and decided to try my hand at watercolor. I came across your channel and you have helped me so much. I’ve also gotten into card making and do watercolor cards for family and friends. You helped me a lot there too. Even do some stamping (thanks to you). I will watch anything and everything you do. You are extremely talented and have made art fun for me. I’m even trying my hand at art journals and signed up for your Mixed Media on Craftsy.

Most importantly, you are such an inspiration to all of us and if you need to slow down on the videos you make, than I’m ok with that if it helps you to regroup and catch your breath. If I need a Frugalcrafter fix, I can go and see your past videos. Take care of yourself!

  54. Dear Lindsay, I am brand new to watercolor and have learned so much from you! What you may think of a not great pieces seem pretty fabulous to me. I ALWAYS learn something from you in your videos. Your spirit is what drew me to watch your videos and be sure to take the time you need to keep your fire alive. This is the most beautiful fall I have seen in NH and NE. Get out and enjoy it, breathe and be grateful for your gift. I try to be like you every time I step up to my brushes. And let me tell you, I have a long way to go. If u think ur pile of UFOs is something to see… thank you for sharing your knowledge and for inspiring me. Take a break and do what you need to, we will all be here!! M

  55. Lindsay, I am also brand new to watercolor. You are the one who inspired me to pick up those paints that have been gathering dust for a long time. There are so many talented artists posting YouTube videos, but you are the one I keep coming back to. You make it so easy to produce a pretty painting and my family and friends are so amazed at what I am doing when I am a compete beginner. Sometimes I put on one of your videos just to hear your voice in the background because you are so friendly and enthusiastic. That said, you must take care of YOU, and please do get the rest and relaxation you need. Gloria

You have so much happening in your life. I am amazed at the tutorials you have provided for us over the years. They are chatty, informative and honest. I enjoy the things you create for us and am learning so much but l often wonder how you keep up the pace. We all need to reassess at times and if you need to slow down l am sure no one would mind.
Everytime you don’t post l would rather it be that you are taking care of family and yourself or having fun rather than from burnout.
    All the best.

  57. You are the best! I look forward to getting your emails no matter when they come, every day or whenever. It’s a bonus if it’s every day but not a cast in stone commitment. I think you were right on with all your comments. Take a break, relax and as my husband says about his “passion”, “if it ain’t fun, I’m not doing it anymore!” So keep having fun and if that means skipping a day or days, do it!!! Best wishes!!!

  58. Dear Lindsay, I read a lot of the comments and basically agree – I LOVE it when you post and I’ve been learning a lot from you but I don’t want to see you burn out. As the mother of six, I know how demanding just being a wife and mother can be. I don’t know how you do all you do – and you do it all so well!! I’ll continue to read and watch whenever you post, but just do what you can without driving yourself crazy. We want you to be around for a long time.

  60. Dear Lindsay, work life balance comes to mind here. I think a lot of ‘home’ workers forget that they can have a life too. I don’t watch your videos every day but occasionally I watch three or four at a time. I also dip in and out of your videos depending on what I want to learn about or remind myself of and I’m sure I’m not alone in doing this. I know of at least one other person (a Ustreamer rather than Youtube) who is guilty of the same as you and she seems to be getting constantly ill and looks very stressed out trying to do way too much and please too many people. I think she’s on the brink of giving up and has certainly hinted at it which would be a huge loss to the crafting community. I, personally would rather she do less and remain. I suspect you feel under more pressure these days too as you seem to do many more ‘reviews’ than in your early days which I understand, sponsorship is where the money is, but it must put you under more pressure to ‘perform’ on days you might prefer not to bother. I love your videos and I’ve passed your name along to many of my friends who want to learn to paint/stamp etc. Like I said about the other lady, I would rather you did less and stayed than totally burn out and disappear. I know from your next post you feel better for your ‘rant’ and I hope you take some of the advice from all the lovely people who’ve left comments. Wishing you well from Scotland. xx

  61. Lindsay, for 25 years I have worked for a non profit that provides services and classes. There are days when I have made a difference in someone’s life and days I am not sure I accomplished anything. Please know that you have to look at all of your life and then decide what needs to come first, second etc. When something you create is not up to your standards (which are pretty high) the rest of us still learn something. We would notice if you don’t post every day, but please don’t feel pressured to do that if it is not nourishing you. Number one take care of yourself!!!

  62. Lindsay dear,
Your post really touched my heart so I wanted to let you know how much your work means to me.

Due to multiple chronic health issues that left me in a lot of physical pain I stopped painting. In fact I haven’t painted for nearly three years.

A few months ago I came across your You Tube channel and you just drew me in. I have watched your videos over and over again. You are so warm and welcoming. You made me remember how joyous it was to just create something for the sake of creating it. And I am painting again!

I have learned so much from you. And not just technique although that has been valuable but also about just painting because it feels good. About laughing at my mistakes and not having to be perfect. And I thank you for that.

If you need to step back a little to nourish yourself as a woman and as an artist then do it. It’s not selfish to feed your own soul. You can’t fill anyone’s cup when you own cup is empty.

Whatever you decide to do just know that you are loved and have blessed so many lives.

  63. Lindsay, I really look forward to your tutorials and have learned so much in my watercolor journey. I am grateful to you and in awe of your generous spirit. I, too, have wondered how you keep it up though. I would be happy if you did, say, 3 tutorials a week and took vacations without feeling the need to provide material to us during that time. If I could count on one watercolor tutorial a week I would still be very grateful to you. And I would still support your sponsors because I want them to continue to support your work. In the end though, you should listen to your heart and do what is right for you and your family. And I’ll still love you!😙

  64. Lindsay, I can’t really add anything new to what’s been said, except maybe – stop and give yourself a big long hug, from me. I’m new to your “channel” and you have so much past content for me to look at and learn from that I will be months, Months! in catching up. I know the business/world view model is “more, More, MORE!!!” That model is a recipe for Major stress. I craft to get RID of stress. When I’m spinning yarn or knitting or painting, I’m in my “Happy Place”. If there were more people consciously getting in their happy place by doing things they loved, this world would be a Much Better Place. So, give yourself a break, get back to your Happy Place and once you’re ready, we, your fans and community, will all be better off for it.

  65. Please continue to be YOU and do what you do! I have learned so much from you. Both from your steller paintings and those that loo a little fussier. I still learn something every time. I try watching others but always go back to the frugal crafter. While i cant paint while on the clock at work, I do paint for 1 hour in the middle of the day and I watch/mostly listen to yoyr videos all day 🙂 You are real, fun, and beautifully human. I would have given up the medium if not for you. I have watched about every watercolor video and some dozens of times. You are inspiring. I appreciate you ♡

  66. I am so happy to see so many people supporting you and and want to add mine as well. I just love your videos including your presentation and personality! Although I can no longer work due to a chronic illness, for 24 years I was Director of a non profit for youth where among many other things, I taught art. So while I am not new to art using watercolor is newer for me and in the rather short time I’ve been watching your tutorials I have been so inspired and am learning a great deal. I thought, finally, someone who is honest, down to earth, and teaches without the typical “artist arrogance”. While many may be beyond what you classify as beginner projects there are obviously a lot of us who need and appreciate exactly what you so generously offer. I have learned more from you regarding watercolor in particular in the past 4 months or so than in years watching others videos. I am very grateful for your time, energy, and talent! Having said ALL that, you need to take care of yourself. I know I don’t do well with something that feels like a constant obligation. In my opinion while this is your work it needs to be enjoyable for you as well. So, post when you want to and let go of the pressure to produce everyday. Don’t even listen to the social media obsessed guru’s. The days you don’t post can be our practice days. I know I need it! Thank you! Love and Light!

  67. It is pretty hard to add to what everyone else has said because they have all done a great job. I always look forward to your videos because I usually learn something new. But with watercolors, I ALWAYS learn something new. That being said, I can totally relate to how you are feeling. I have been there so many times. Do put yourself first for awhile, reenergize yourself and all else will fall in line. I appreciate all that you have done in the name of art and encouraging everyone along the way. You are a joy to all of us, but I don’t want you to lose your joy over it. Take care!

  68. its like you tell us: its your painting, do whatcha want! We all love what you do, and you Have led us to grab our paint, and get creative. i started a year ago with adult coloring books in my chair in the living room, and because of finding your vids, have a whole corner in my bedroom, just for crafting. i am medically disabled, and it makes you feel quite useless, when you watch your abilities, one by one, start to disappear. You have changed that for me. i feel quite creative, even when i just watch you. i can go back and learn more each time, from all your past post, so do what makes You happiest,,, that’s what you tell us. thank you. –diane

Polonius said to Hamlet “to thyne own self be true”. I reckon you do what you want and when you want, and turn the camera on when you feel like it. I will still be here to watch avidly, as will the vast majority of your YOUtube/Bloggy/Arty family. Simply put – you are my Art Hero Lindsay 🙂

  70. Hi Lindsay, maybe you’ve already been encouraged like this 75 times, but I want to add my 2 cents. You are the first crafty blog and YouTube channel I ever found quite a few years ago. You have willingly shared and taught me so much. I save most of your posts and tutorials. I have been astounded at the number of posts you’ve been able to crank out. A year ago I found it to be too much and switched over to seeing your posts once a week. I still look at every one, but it doesn’t feel like I have so many emails every day.
If you were to cut your posting to half at this point I would still be satisfied and pleased and grateful. Please don’t post because of external pressure. Only post what inspires you. I think you will still be just as successful. You are talented, creative, generous and very entertaining to watch. I’d hat to see you burn out ans lose your spark. Thank you for all you share.

A few days ago, I was watching another watercolor tutorial, and yours were referenced in the comments, as an example of how video tutorials should be done. Although your skill as an artist and teacher were extolled, it was your enthusiasm and the exuberance of your personality that was commended. Your kindness and humanity shine forth with every laugh and self effacing comment. “This isn’t a mistake, it is a learning moment” gives us all permission to begin where we are and to move on toward whereever our talent and persistance take us. You are a warm and safe a comforting place to visit. Please hold that for yourself and your family. Thank you for sharing yourself and your talents with us. You are a wonder!
