StampSchool: Colored Pencil Blending & Giveaway!

You can use any colored pencils you have for this but regular colored pencils will work much better than watercolor pencils because regular (wax) colored pencils are more opaque and will blend better in a dry fashion. I like to use colored pencils on colored paper because they show up well. Some people asked me about blending with solvents but I only do that on white paper because it makes my pencils more transparent.

  1. Love the card, I think I can handle this with the supplies on hand. This card can be used for so many occasions and would be appreciated by male or female. All I need is the stamp! Thanks Lindsay.

  2. Very pretty project, I have some Derwent coloursoft pencils that I have not used enough, maybe I should get them out and try them on darker paper. I do like that those ones don’t require a lot of effort to lay down so they don’t hurt your hand so much.

I have a lovely stash of recycled kraft card that l can put to good use. I have learnt so much from watching your videos. I would like to see the pencils used on a simple street scene with a row of cottages, or a hot air ballooon against a landscape.

  14. Thank you for this! I also really loved your watercolor feather tutorial – maybe when you do the Colourblend drawing, it could be a different feather? I’d like to see how that would look… Not necessarily a realistic feather – perhaps something colorful and fun. Or – a butterfly would be pretty!

  31. I have not tried colored pencils on kraft paper, but now I just might! Got a great deal on some “coloring stamps” at Michaels, and have been having so much fun with them. (I saw them when they first came out and wondered…aren’t most stamps meant to be colored????) I might have to find a movie to “watch” tonight while I try colored pencils on kraft! Thanks for this idea. Love those background papers, too!

Your cheerful personality, your concern for our planet, your talents, have encouraged me to drag out all of my arts and craft supplies and started actually making things! It is so easy to get depressed when you are ill( I have cancer) thank you for doing what you do and God bless you for being my angel( the one that pulled me out of the depths of despair) please don’t let negative comment trolls bother you. Oh, and BTW, I’d love a new stamp!

  59. Lindsay, all of a sudden I can’t make a post or ask a question about this project without being thrown into a page requiring me to sign up for a Google account, which I don’t want. I just wanted to know if I buy the whole 120 color set of Spectrum Noir pencils you are using, will there be duplicate colors? Also, what is the name of the tool you used to attach the little dragonfly to the card, and where could I get both the tool and the little dragonfly embellishments? Thanks, Dee
