Keep reading if you want to find out more about Life Book 2017 and if you want to find out how you can win a spot! 🙂 First let me tell you a bit more about Life Book in case you haven’t heard about it yet! “Life Book, a celebration and honouring of YOU” is a year-long mixed media art class organised by Tamara Laporte from Willowing Arts. Tam is joined by 22 incredible art teachers who are all gearing up to share their mixed media techniques, tips and tricks with YOU!
Themed around self-development and healing, you’ll be creating several loose mixed media art journal pages per month which by the end of the year you will bind into a glorious journal (a Life Book)! You will have a wonderful keepsake that you can treasure for the rest of your life! You can find out a lot more about this wildly popular course (it has been joined by over 12500+ people in the past!) by clicking HERE. I haven’t fully developed my class idea yet, but I’m excited to be sharing expressive watercolor techniques with you, much like you can see in this painting:
Registration opens on October 3rd 2016 and the class begins on January 1st 2017. I found Life Book quite by chance and it seems that it was one of those lucky finds as I can’t believe how much I have learnt in such a short time. Life Book isn’t just about the art it is about all of us, the community is amazing and of course we all get to learn from fantastic tutors like yourself. I am so glad to see that you have joined this wonderful project. I would to take part I a program where I could try to document and develop who I am as an artist. I started drawing again a year ago while I was ill and it has saved me. In the meantime, I found YouTube and so many new mediums to play and learn from. I have followed you for years and love love love your teaching style!!! I know I would benfit from life book 2017, I’ve had a “hellva” year with health, losing 2 friends to cancer and my cat! The icing on the cake, the govenor of ct decided to lay off all of his sign language interpreter ( a job I have done for 17 years)
I am now in search of insurance being a type one diabetic and finding that the price is outrageous ( I was always greatful for the wonderful benfits I had)
This all being said art helps me center and calm me, from my story you can see the funds are not there, so to win a spot I would be incredibly greatful!! Every year I say I will take the class but financially its never possible because I am a disabled senior on a limited fixed income. I need something that will push me to go into my room, pull out the supplies and create instead they are sitting there. I would love to be apart of your life book class for 2017 because I feel that art is helping me grow as a person and I’m learning so much about myself as I go along. I recently got back into my art and crafting and I’m so happy I did because I love it, I honestly wish I never stopped because creativity is a big part of who I am. I came across your YouTube channel and I was amazed, I’m learning a lot from you and one of my favorite things to do now is watercoloring. I have so much fun trying new things and yesterday I took two art classes at my local scrapbook expo for the first time and I got recognized for some of my art in the class and that alone made my day. Why would I like to win a seat for LB 2017? Simple. After 2 years enjoying Life Book to the full, my life will be so empty next year without it. This would be so much fun. I’m still recovering from the effects of a massive heart attack and am a bit more housebound than I would like to be, and this would help me keep my mind on beautiful positive art! My medical bills prevent me from signing up for the pricier classes so I really appreciate all of the tutorials you share so freely on youtube. You make learning so much fun 🙂

I would love to be part of a creative project like this. I just started learning how to paint a few months ago and just love it. Unfortunately, I am disabled and cannot afford to purchase a place in this. Your tutorials have really helped me to become almost a real artist. I started with crayola paint and sharpies and it really does depend on the skill of the painter much more than the quality of your paints. Thank you for your reviews and your tutorials. I have learned so much from you!

Rather new at all of this (this is the first blog I have joined), but I am totally in awe of everything! The creativity is so bountiful. You are so generous with your demos, your reviews on products, etc. I am starting to experiment with my mother’s water color set that hasn’t been touched in 20 years! It is like it has been waiting for me. Found a pad of Arches paper. Found some water color pencils. I am going to give it all a try. I even have a few stamps I am looking at differently.

I’ve never considered myself very creative. I remember being creative as a very young child but I didn’t create again until I was in my 40s. Now I’m completely hooked and I like to create several times a week. I would love to join LifeBook so I can explore my creativity and push my limits to see what I’m really capable of! Within one year 10 years ago I lost everything. Due to circumstances beyond my control, my life was no longer in control. In my 40’s with a incurable disease, no home, no children, health insurance, employment I’ve had to start my life over. At 56, Art has had a healing power over me and I’ve been able to fight my way back. This class sounds like it would speak to my continued growth and transport me to a safe place as it has been doing.

I would really LOVE this opportunity to paint along with Lifebook! For less than 8 months, I have taken the step towards fulfilling my lifelong dream of learning how to paint. The Internet and Youtube have been my only resources as I am a teacher living in Nome, Alaska. This is a remote area with limited art opportunities.
My family and I have had a rough past 5 years. My husband has been battling Sarcoma Cancer. He has had 12 surgeries. The last 2 have been the largest with one costing him half his pelvis and his entire right leg. In January of this year, the tumor came back in his remaining leg. We are still battling this! Painting has been a way for me to destress myself, and it has given joy to my husband. He loves seeing the process and also seeing me find that calm place.
Anyways, since I am a teacher with limited funding, it would be awesome to be win a membership with Lifebook! Thank you for the opportunity.

Like so many of us in have been going through some difficult life challenges. My Doctor has come across a new treatment that really seems to be helping. Hi Lindsay! I would like to think that I am your biggest fan, and it was you who inspired me when I was home sick to get back into art after 30 years! I love your energy, and all your videos. No matter what you come up with, it will be grande! Lifebook 2016 is my first year and it has changed my life. i have followed you on youtube for quite awhile so i am aware of your many talents and great tips. For me Life Book=Life Line. I am disabled and in pain 24/7 even with many medications….but ART HEALS and helps take my mind off the pain. I also cannot work so my income is only 800.00 a month in the poverty level so obviously no money to pay for classes. I have had the opportunity to take Life Book before and it is by far the BEST class online out there. every week a new class, its like a surprise a week. the teachers are all always great, you can learn so much, such a wonderufl network of old and new friends develops, and most of all it is lead by THE VERY BEST person, teacher, friend, anyone could ever hope to be in their circle of friends….TAMARA !!! Hi Lindsey. You are the reason I’m here-like why I’m even asking to win a spot in an art class. You were the 1st creative Youtuber I found. You were my gateway crafter – LOL.
Really, over the last 10 months I’ve changed a lot. I’ve challenged my idea about myself that I’m not creative. That’s HUGE! Now I’m playing. Everything’s new to me so it’s all fun-until it’s not. The exploration is fun but sometimes it’d be nice to have a little more guidance. That’s why I’m interested in taking a class like Life Book. So many amazing creators. I don’t know what I don’t know nor do I know what medium will really make my heart sing.
I really like the over arching idea of the class being about exploration of Self. Art is a very intimate thing. I think that is the aspect of the class that intrigues me the most. Using art as a way not only to find what medium and process bring me the most joy but also getting to know me beyond words, in a right brain pictorial, non-linear way.
I always have enjoyed art, going to museums, taking art history classes. I just never thought I’d be able to create it.

Hi Lindsey!!! This class sounds like it will be an amazingly cathartic journey! I have been art journaling for about a year and have found it to be such a healing process. Today is the birthday of my 5th and youngest child, she would have been 21…she died at 10 weeks due to substandard housing. She was the catalyst for my obtaining a masters degree in Social Work. I bece a mental health therapist for children and heavily utilized art therapy…an amazingly effective tool…especially for those with little to no verbal skills. Unfortunately I am now disabled and am no longer working; however, because I have had such success with my own healing journey, I have been asked to teach art journaling at our local mental health centers (I live in a very impoverished area that cannot afford to hire someone, nor can they afford to spend much on supplies…fortunately, through your channel, I can make/stretch many supplies!). So, if I win a spot for these classes, I would be learning techniques that I can bring to many who need help with their own healing journey. Thanks so much can for such an amazing opportunity! Hi Lindsay! I would LOVE to win! For several reasons… I am thirsty for inspiration. Want to learn as much as I possibly can so I can get to the next level, which is to find my own voice in art.
Another reason is last Monday I had a “wake up call”… when I had to be rushed to the hospital cause something was wrong with my heart. Made me realize that life is short and need to do things NOW. Also painting is very much a healing and relaxing time for me…

I would love to take this class to be able to add more emotion into my art. I’ve read a lot of testimonials from people who share that Lifebook is so much more than just making pretty things so I would love to try it and dive deep into my work and network with awesome folks! I have already explained that I am a cancer patient in a prior comment. What I didn’t explain, I have been fighting lymphoma since 2004. This sounds perfect to record my healing journey. Praying that there’s a spot for me!

I have not done any “arting” for a good decade. A lifetime of personal experiences have been residing in my head making creativity painful to pursue. Recently though, it seems like the pain from unexpressed art is worse than not doing. But how to get over these hurdles? Reading about “deliberate practice” has pointed the way but a guide or teacher is needed. Then I came across this post. Lifebook is the way! It has everything I was looking for: compassion, community, healing, art. Winning a spot would save me since I don’t forsee any extra income soon. Namaste

I want to join lifebook because I love the unity and talent, the devotion and the emotion of all the ladies involved in this most awesome event. I have fallen in love with this Youtube comradery. It is the spirit of friendship and community in this group that I long for. I feel I found a place where I want to belong. And I can only wish that I become a part and inspire others in the same way they do. You are all truly unique, however, you are all so positively behind each others individuality and creativity. Last year, I started my journey into MM with lifebook, as fysical limitations forced me to leave sculpting and painting big (I had just started those, realy enjoying them). What started as a keeping-myself-occopied instead of dwelling into selfpity, turned out to be the best that happened to me in a long time. I grew so much both as a person and as an artist, I still can hardly believe it. I want to continue this journey so much, and lifebook with it’s wonderful range of different talenten teachers, and as a bonus pulling in those personal development stuff, is just what I need as an input. THanks for the chance to win a spot, keeping my fingers crossed!
