LIVE Watercolor tutorial Today // Geraniums in Watercolor!

Hi friends! Today at 12:30pm Eastern Time I will have a live painting class and you can watch it here, or if you want to chat along you can watch it on YouTube.

We will be painting a bucket of geraniums with an American flag, here is the pattern. You can use a clear or white crayon to save the white of the paper on the forget-me-not flowers and stars or use masking fluid. If you use wax don’t transfer the stars to your watercolor paper or you will trap the pencil marks on the paper.

You can watch the live show or the replay in the player below BUT if you want to ask questions as we go you will need to watch it on YouTube.

Supplies from Sponsor Jerry’s Artarama:

I hope you can make it to this live painting class. There won’t be a live class next Friday because I am teaching at the Heirloom Productions Stamp Show in West Springfield MA and I still have a couple of spots open in the second class if you want to come! Thanks for stopping by and till next time happy crafting!

  1. How would you advise a beginner to learn watercolor?

  2. Hi Lindsay, 🙂
THANK YOU SO MUCH for all the videos you have done, and future ones, in teaching us how to do watercolours, etc. I just made 80 watercolour bookmarks for the Association, where I volunteer, for their fund raising event tomorrow.
I had never painted with watercolours before, but your videos gave me the confidence to try and make the bookmarks for the fund raising.
When I made a mistake, I used it as a learning curve, remembered your teachings and I was able to hide it with one of the many rubber stamps I used for images on the bookmarks.
I look forward to your future videos.
    Wishing you continued success.
    Best regards,

    • P.S. I did not get a chance to watch your “live” video, but I look forward to viewing it later. The geraniums look beautiful!

  3. I just love this picture. I didn’t see the email announcing the live feed until it was almost over (and Hubz wanted to use my computer so I decided I could watch it later–I’m such a good wife. LOL) so I watched the recorded video several times as I followed your instructions to paint the picture. It came out so well, I’m amazed! Have you ever heard of removing masking fluid with a piece of masking tape? It worked really well. And in another teacher’s video (Susan Scheewe sp?) she taught to use a piece of crunched up plastic wrap over damp paint to make a galvanized bucket look blotchy and it worked well too. Thanks a bunch for the video and hope your trip to Mass. is great.

  4. Thanks Lindsay ! I watched and painted. My flag is a maple leaf. I’m a proud Canadian!

    • You should be proud, Canada is awesome, wicked nice folks up there:) I used to visit Quebec a quite a bit:)
