Hi Friends! In today’s video I will show you how to make an anti-static embossing pouch so you can create perfect rubber stamped images! After that we will make a card!

Embossing pouch supplies:
- fabric scrap (thin material like cotton or muslin or old t-shirt)
- corn starch or baby powder or Talc/talcum powder
- rubber band
Directions: Cut a 6″ or larger square of fabric. Put 1-2 tablespoons of powder in the center of fabric. Gather up the edges and secure with a rubber band. To use simply pounce and wipe on your cardstock before stamping and heat embossing. You can also use this to de-static other things like glitter trays/funnels. It will also help in to stick to hard to stamp papers better even if you are not embossing.
Card Supplies:
- Hot press watercolor paper or smooth cardstock
- Watercolor markers (Spectrum Aqua)
- Bicycle Stamp (Rubbernecker)
- Pattern paper from Nantucket stack (DCVW)
- Spray bottle of water
- Kraft cardstock for card base
- Heat tool, embossing ink (aka glycerin)
- Black embossing powder

You can also buy pair of pantyhose at the dollar store and cut them up to make the anti static pouches. That way you can make a few to have on hand and enough leftover to use for something else or keep for a later date. Just another option!

Forgot to add that I got my Spectrum Aqua markers today!!!! I haven’t had a chance to play with them yet but hoping I can stay on my broken foot long enough to play with them tomorrow! Right now I can only be on it for about 10 minutes before I have to put it up and ice/rest it for an hour or two.

I learned a tip from Barbara Gray (Clarity Stamps.). She explained, if one uses a heat tool to emboss, do it from the back side of the card, for it comes out nice and smooth, whereas, heating from the top causes that dimpling we see, especially when using Silhoutte stamps. You probably know this, but I just thought I would throw it out there. The bicycle card is cute. I like the thin strip you used to add interest.

Always love your suggestions. I gave up on the ATG gun and bought the Xyron Mega Runner. It is so much easier to use. I got it on Joann.com at 40 or 50% off (I have no craft stores where I live). It has refills at .5″ and .25″ which is great for ribbon. I love it so much I bought a second one so I have both size tapes handy.

I accidentally threw away my embossing buddy–tragedy! I was able to make my own exactly like you did. I already had all the things to make it in the house. The DIY pouch worked just as well if not better than the store-bought one.

Hi Lindsey….I just thought I would share with you how I made my pouch…I bought baby mittens from the 99 cents store..and they have elastic and I tie them with a ribbon

Thanks for this great idea! I have an embossing pouch and the brush on embossing tool but can never find either when I need them so knowing I can just grab a scrap of fabric from the bin and then throw some baby powder in it will save the day many times. I have tried using a drier sheet before but found it made things worse. It was like there was a little bit of an oily substance in it that my embossing powder stuck to. Maybe I was supposed to use one that had already been through the drier, IDK.

I been reading a little bit on your page. I somehow managed to get here trying to find the difference between watercolor markers and watercolor pencils.
You do a lot of work with watercolor markers, is it worth buying watercolor markers if you make cards? It’s hard to really think about a different median that applies darker rather than layering it heavy to be darker. But I love watercolor pencils and paint soo much, I’m just hesitated buying watercolor markers because I dont work with any markers.

You can get very much the same look with the watercolor pencils, I don’t think you are missing out not having the markers:)
