Sick, Tired, Here’s a Fabric Storage Video.

Hi Friends, today has been rough, I have not been this sick in years! The twins were home sick too although they seem to be over the worst of it. I guess I am making up for not catching a single cold last year I have a real humdinger now! It hurts to talk even! (hold your applause, I heard that!) Luckily I shot this requested fabric storage video the other day before I was a goner.

I am hoping I can sleep this cold off tonight because my kids are in basketball tournaments tomorrow unless they are cancelled due to snow. I am fairly certain all of my time in germy basketball bleachers has put me in this state too. Next year I am getting myself a bubble to live in all winter. Sorry about my sour tome, also I am getting an earache. And snow, did I mention snow? Another foot today plus the 2 feel from 2 days ago slid of the metal roof so we are basically surrounded by a mote of snow. Oh well, only 5 more months of it. Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

  1. Sorry your feeling under the weather. Hope you feel better soon. One question. Where do you live that there are 5 more months to winter? Siberia..?? Thanks for the great tutorials

  2. We all love you and your contributions to keeping us crafty but we will survive (barely!!) if you take a few days off. Take care of yourself and get well. That is number one!!!😷 and I know New Englanders are hardy souls and those of you in Maine are at the top of the list but I don’t see how you survive all that ice and snow winter after winter. No wonder Lorraine flew south. Get well!!!!

  3. Hope you feel better soon, Lindsay. The cold that is going around this year is particularly pernicious. Sorry you and your family caught it. The snow will melt before 5 months. I know it looks bleak right now, but Spring really is on the way–just around the corner!

I feel for you – really feel for you….hope you feel better soon – we had a horrible winter here (MN) last year – nothing to speak of this year – so there is hope……(We have a metal roof too – I know exactly what you are saying – at least you get a warning as the house shakes and roars the impending doom!

  6. Lindsay, Here’s to better health. It is no fun being sick, but add all the snow?!? YUCK😝. I really enjoyed the tour of your craft space as you showed us your organizing ideas. Good luck to your kids at their basketball tourney.

  8. Sorry, you are so sick. Hope you get better real soon. If you are getting ear aches it may be time for a doctors visit. You need to rest until you are much better. We will be here when you get back. Pushing yourself is probably making you worse. You probably don’t need to be at a game. Hopefully they cancel it. Take care.

  12. Love to have all that fabric, what pretty quilts thay would make. Just kidding, trying to thin out all our rooms now except the office/craft room. Sorry tbat you are battling sickness. Hope you get over it soon. Myself l get flu shoots every year. My mother had her bypass 16 years ago and husband had a heart attack about 5 years ago; so everone gets a shot. We may get sick once in a major time but most times it is short lasting. Take care, best reguards.

  14. Hello Lindsay. Hope you feel better. Sounds like you may need an antibiotic for your earache! Walk-In Clinic for you, not basketball game. Sorry kids, Mom needs to get well.

  15. Hi Lindsay,

I feel so sorry for you! I always get earaches when I have a sore throat and the earaches are the worst part of it because it hurts so much it keeps me from going to sleep. But having a sore throat is very inconvient if you have children – you find out how MUCH you have to rely on your VOICE! If they ask you: “Mom, may I … ” and you can’t answer clearly they take it for a “yes” immediately!

Just make yourself a couple of signs to hold up like: “yes”, “no”, “quit fighting”, “clean up your room” etc.

Needless to say we would all miss your videos, but of course what we want most is for you to rest and get well. We can watch the older videos in the meantime, sometimes you learn more watching a video a second time after a while because you understand more of what it’s about.

Congratulations for winning the award! You deserve it!

  16. Oh, Lindsay, I’m so sorry that you are sick! Add all that snow you have to deal with and that makes it a miserable time–literally ‘under the weather!’ I suggest that you take vitamin D to boost your immune system to ward off future colds. No vitamin I know of will ward off snow storms. ;-(

  18. Thank you for doing the fabric storage video. This was very helpful
to me. I also love the idea of die cutting fabric to put on children’s
jeans — will do that for the grandchildren. Besides the knees the
flowers would look great on the back pockets for little girls.
Lindsay, Congratulations for winning the Craftsy Award. You
    deserve it!
    Hope you feel better soon.

  19. Hi Lindsay,
I’m so sorry to hear you are ill. I hope you start feeling better soon.
This is a little off topic but I was watching one of your “Ask a crafter videos” and someone (Who liked to do her sentiments in French said she can’t find many stamps for it) and since she couldn’t print and emboss it was a problem.
The thought occurred to me, and forgive me if this has been covered since. But what if she printed her sentiment on card stock or what ever and then used a “VersaMarker” to write over the sentiment then put the embossing powder on it. Wouldn’t that help out? I haven’t tried it, it was just one of those random brain-backfires that happen to me occasionally (okay more than occasionally, but shh that’s our little secret.) *laughs*
Anyway, again, I hope you feel better soon.
    Sending Hugs
    Genevieve

  20. I’m pretty certain that you, being a wife and mother, already know these things, but jic, thought I’d mention them. Here goes:

I’m not a doctor so I’m not giving advice, but when I have an upper respiratory condition and my ear starts hurting I use a nasal decongestant. Fluid can back up into the ear canal, placing pressure on the ear; as well the fluid, left standing in the canal i.e. not draining allows bacteria to grow and can progress to an ear infection.

As an adult and allergy sufferer I’ve had many ear infections in my 40’s and beyond. Best to prevent getting a full blown problem if possible.

Being careful when blowing the nose helps prevent forcing fluid into the ear canal as well. I find it best not to blow too forcefully.

If I have chest congestion and/or a cough, I take an otc cough suppressant that contains an expectorant.

    Hope you get well soon!

  23. Hello Lindsay,
I am with Dinahsoar…I usually do not give advice concerning health issues…or anything else for that matter. That said, I feel the need to say that I had laryngitis in September…the ensuing “cold” never went away. Finally, at the end of November, I went to the Doctor and found that I had walking pneumonia. Antibiotics helped…I got better for a while. I again have a nasty cold. All of this is just to say that the bugs abounding in Maine this year, are indeed pernicious (Thank you for that lovely word). Please rake care of yourself and thank you for the fabric storage video. I am a sewer and always have “scraps” to save, and usually just stick them in a tote..where they sit for years, cause I can’t remember which tote they are in. I will use this approach for hem tape, bias tape and other embellishments. Sending healthy thoughts your way,
    Lyn

Maybe the first one doesn’t come out great, but I want to save it so I can refer to it and make sure the next one is better. These 3D things are a bear to store! They take up so much room!

    1. If I can fold it flat I put it in my tempate binder, if it will sell it goes on my graft fair table. I will keep it if I can use it as gift packaging, otherwise I trash it. It usually has to sit around and gather dust for a while before I toss it:)
