Layered Ribbon Season’s Greetings!

Hi Friends! I love the color combo turquoise and crimson. There is something about the crisp contrast and cool undertones that make me think of winter. I used single faced satin ribbon in red and turquoise from Offray.com, white cardstock and stamps to create the chic season’s greeting card:

I like to have large spools of ribbon on hand for holiday crafting. Now is the time to stock up at Offray.com because you can use this coupon code FRUGAL15 to save 15% on your first order through 12/31/14!

Here is how to make this card:

You will need:

Directions:

  1. Cut a sheet of 8 1/2″x11″ cardstock in half the long way (you will have two 11″x4 1/4″ pieces.) Fold one piece in half to make a top fold card. Trim the other panel to 5 1/4″ x 4″. Reserve the rest of the sheet for stamping.
  2. Use an embossing folder to emboss the 5 1/4″x4″ panel. Accent the edges of the panel with an ink pad.
  3. Stamp Snowflake, label and sentiment and cut them out neatly.
  4. Wrap the 3″ red ribbon around the embossed panel and adhere to the back with tape. Tie a turquoise bow around the panel over the red ribbon then adhere the panel to the card base with foam squares.
  5. Layer the stamped & cut out images on the card as shown with foam tape for dimension.

  4. Hi Lindsay–could you please check “Grommet” and the project of using small parts of a watercolor–India and Purry–could we do something like that using the paper we paint on and adhering it to something–it seems like such a fun idea–thanks for thinking about it.

  6. Beautiful card and love the colors. But, I suspect the knot in the ribbon would make it hard to mail; it would have to be one of those you hand out to friends. I could always leave out the foam squares, but do you have any ideas for making the knot flatter? Most of my friends live in other places so mailing is essential.

    • Maybe you could fake the knot? You know, make loops for the bow out of the ribbon, then wrap another piece of ribbon around the center as if it were the knot and glue it in the back. As long a you don’t scrunch up the ribbon it wouldn’t be nearly as thick.

  7. I will tell you what I think. I think this is one of the all time best color combinations ever. It is one of my favorites. I like it soo much that the last two vans that I purchased are white and I had a South West design put on them in these two colors. I even made tee shirts to match. I have had many compliments on my vans over the years. So, this is a knock out card, in my opinion.

  8. Oh wow, I’m not usually a fan of thick/lumpy cards, but that one’s awesome! I think it’s the texture and sheen of the ribbon against the card that does it for me.

  13. I was looking for the video! Oh Please Lindsay….Pretty Please do a video! This is my favorite color combo ever and I am trying to visually “dissect” the card and it is tough. Is the red ribbon scrunched at all? it kinda looks like it is. Or is that a shadow? and your bow…AHHHH PERFECTION! How was it attached?
I absolutely LOVE this card and it very well may be “the one” for this year!

  16. I love 3D cards but the post office doesn’t. My Christmas cards usually 30, need to be flatter. I have resorted to stamps and embossing.
