Can you suggest a way to use glossy accents on paper word strips (to make them look like the store bought epoxy ones)? Every time I’ve tried the strips of paper curl up just a tiny bit and then it cracks when I try to use them because they’re not flat any more.

Whoo Hoo!!!! I love watching you gals!!! I have a question. I see a lot of beautiful work that appears to have clear colors on top of each other in art journals. Like reds (on top of blue) ( and yellows layered in but when I try and do that my colors look muddy or dull. I hated to say muddy cause I am watching the color wheel. Someone told me to add a bit of white in my colors because they could be transparent (like liquitex basics) but then I loose the color. Is there something else I should be doing? I even have some of the heavy body that due the same thing. I guess it isn’t muddy but more transparent? I do dry the paint between layers. Another question. I have some of the liquitex acrylic ink which I was all excited about because for the life of me, I can’t get the right formula for drips. But, they have globs in them. How do you get rid of these? I have shaken them, diluted them, and just don’t understand why everyone loves them?

Ask A Crafter is always a hoot! You are truly blessed to have good friends who share your passion. My question is, have you figured out a way/product to get stubborn ink stains off your hands? I love getting crazy in the craft room with 4 different types of ink going, 20 different colors, water, spray mist, sponges, and whatever else I want to try that day. However, on those fabulous days, I undoubtedly end up with major ink stains. I’ve tried WD40, Mechanic Hand Cleaner, Alcohol, Staz On Cleaner, sugar scrub, baby wipes and more. I hope with your vast experience you have found something. I should note, some of what I’ve tried is not supposed to be used on skin, I tried at my own risk, to no avail. And, secondly, it’s not that I’m hoity toity and too proud to wear my art stains, but I work with my hands in a health profession…not the greatest confidence booster to clients when one’s hand are dirty! Any help will be appreciated. Sorry for the ramble, but I always feel like I’m talking to a friend…and you know how that goes:).

Like you I tried many things to get ink & stains off my hands. Without a doubt, the Ranger Ink Scrubby is the best to get my skin sparkling clean. I know Hobby Lobby sells it and I would imagine Michael’s does too. It’s under $3 and I’ve had mine for years.

Allison, I am a very messy crafter, and sometimes I have more on me than on my finished product. Baby shampoo! On the ingredients, look for glycerin. My hardest test comes with very dark stamping inks. I use a nail and hand brush to work the shampoo into the skin, and voila! Your hands are clean. Cannot tell you why it works, it just does. AND, use it on your stamps too. They will look like new, and I am told the rubber stamps are thirsty for glycerin. Amazing. Have fun painting and crafting! Ooopsies. Did you see Shakespeare in Love? That fellow had ink stains coming out his pores! No wonder the Queen kept her distance. LOL! Priceless gowns and dirty hands just do not mix.

Yay! Ask a Crafter is back. You always have lots of great information to share.
My question is – I have a lot of old Tri Chem fabric paint tubes that I found when cleaning out my mother-in-law’s house after she went into a nursing home. The ball points on the tubes don’t work well any more, but the paints were barely used and seem to still be good when I take the tops off and squeeze out a little of the paint. Have you ever used this kind of fabric paint and do you have any ideas on how I can incorporate it into my paper craft projects?

Can you paint with alcohol inks? Regular brush painting, not dripping and dropping.
Do you know how to engrave on glass with a dremel engraving tool?
Have you ever used prismacolor markers? Are they alcohol or water based?

Am so happy you wonderful ladies are back!! I can’t wait for your new videos:) I hope you could help me out. I have seen videos on YouTube on how to make coasters with tiles, but am wondering instead of tiles could I use pieces of wood? I found at a dollar store pack of wood squares, that are the same size as tiles. But am not sure if wood is a good material for a coaster or fake wood, I don’t think the wood in the dollar store is real wood. lol Am just worried water or any other liquid will damage the picture I want to use for the coasters. Should I just stick with tiles? Thank you for taking the time out of your busy lives to help me and others out with our questions. Have a great day ladies!!:)

What is the best brand of spray enamel for the white titles you buy to use alcohol inks with when making coasters-I hear about Pitt pens and micron pens-when would I use each type?thanks for a great show -all three of you are great

So while you were gone I found a place in Canada to get inexpensive unmounted rubber stamps, I bought a lot. Is it important to use sponge between the stamp and the mount which I plan to use tack it over and over instead of something permanent, I plan to use plexi glass? Next I am wonder what I should use to slightly melt the plastic to make a curved mount? what kind of spongy material? I have craft foam. I have a kiln, oven, heat gun, maybe a couple other option for the melting. So glad you are back with ask a crafter. I’ve been thinking about you all. Thanks for your help.

YeeeHaaaw! Ok, question: I have been told that Alcohol Marker Blender Pens are filled with “just alcohol”; if this is the case can I refill them with “just alcohol” & what type or types of alcohol can be used. TIA!

Hi Girls, missed you this summer, I have a question I recently brought a pad of carlton acid free 146lb paper and it was awful with watercolours it bled through to the rear of the paper, can you advise me if this is only suitable for coloured pencils? it does show a paintbrush on the front so I thought it would work? I must say I usually buy 140lb cold pressed but thought I would try this for a change….

I am thrilled that ask a crafter is back, Lindsay you are so talented, no hesitation in anything you do, ask you often say you can’t make a mistake. What I was wodering is have you ever done and cut glass work, I’m trying to figure out and then cut the tops off of wine bottle for either chimes, terrariums, hurricane or whatever but as I’m a better visual earning style person have hopes that you might have done this and will produce a video.

Question: I have been using a medium weight cardstock to make my cards, and then I try to sponge backgrounds. Curled paper is my end results. I have been drying the paper and running the card through my Cuttlebug. Like and idiot, I keep doing the same thing expecting different results.:) So now I am rethinking the whole thing. Heavier cardstock, cutting a light watercolor paper for my ‘art’, and applying that to the card front. In the alternative – I have also considered buying good quality card sets aka card and envelope. Any additional ideas? Thanks! Glad the three friends are back and rested from the vacations, yadda, yadda, yadda. I still have not had mine. We’ll probably run off to Vienna or maybe Tyrol later in the fall. I only saw Vienna from the train – the Orient Express. . . on my way to Budapest. That was exciting, but nothing to really look at from the train platform. May I have a wee bit of cheese with my whine – please. . .

I’ve got another question! Have any of you ever worked with hydrogen peroxide in your paper crafting? Considered a “super water” H2O2, I’m wondering if adding hydrogen peroxide to any mediums or pigments would result in some interesting surprises. How about mixing hydrogen peroxide with alcohol or glycerin?

Question? My mother didn’t close her colored Micron caps all the way and they dried out is there a way to salvage them (they were practically brand new)? I told her not to do anything with them until I heard from you.

re:your scrapbooking- ever thought of hosting a virtual crop? So many of us would have a blast scrappin’ with you but obviously that’s impossible. Some of the companies and class sites (I.e., BPC) occasionally host a virtual crop event. Logistically it might be too expensive etc. but what if you were scappin’ on some set time, did some Ask a crafter ? Showcased some of them as you scrapped, etc.How many pages do you get done/started? If I was at crop with you, I would get probably none done from laughing all the time.

I want to stamp a clear shower curtain with a Stubbystamper.com large butterfly rubber stamp #2002. I included the stamp # so you can see what stamp I’m talking about. I want to use StazOn ink pad in black ink and color each butterfly. I can’t use Sharpies because they are solvent ink and StazOn is a solvent ink. That would muddy up my butterfly image. What can I use to color butterfly? Vicki, the owner of Stubbystampers suggested that I stamp only with StazOn ink in colors.
I love Stubbystampers stamps they make quality rubber stamps for the most reasonable prices anywhere. I’ve been buying their rubber stamps since 1992.
I have fabric ink markers,but I don’t what kind of ink is in fabric markers. Do you know?

Question: Working with hot glue in my art journal recently, I added it on top of a mostly finished page as an embellishment. I’m worried it will melt and make a huge mess as I continue to work in my journal, since I often dry pages with a heat tool. Any ideas how to seal over the hot glue so it won’t make a mess?

I enjoy all your programs so much–always fun, always informative. Thanks so much. Right now, I am trying to organize all my art supplies. I have many old, hardened, unopened squares of Sculpey clay. Are there any ways do salvage these or should I just throw them away? Right now, they are like rocks.

I noticed you used Creative Memories punches-which I also have and love-but they’re starting to stick while you’re trying to punch. So I am trying to figure out how to clean them, or whatever to get them to stop sticking. Especially since CM is all gone now. 😦 Also the blades for the cutting system-I also love my cutting system-and wonder what to do when the blades get dull becuase we won’t be able to buy those anymore.
