WOYWW: A Whimsical Art Journal Page!

Hi Friends! It seems like forever since I have had a What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday post! I didn’t want to post a WOYWW pic unless I had time to visit other desks as well, it kinda went against the spirit of WOYWW but today I have some time to gaze upon the busy desks of my fellow artisans so here is my mess, er, I mean desk!

journalwoyww

I was asked to do a video on the creation of this zentangle journal page that I showed during another video (I madea similar picture during a free library kids art class I teach) and some viewers wanted to see how it was done. I sped up the drawing and coloring and did my second ever voice over with my new Go Mic by Samson and I am really happy with the way it turned out.

That’s all for me today. If you want to see some crafty desks check out the WOYWW blog. Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

  1. The Wizard of Oz and the Yellow Brick Road come to mind, Lindsay. Your whimsy in this piece is wonderful. I took a double look and discovered a mother’s face with her baby in your sun. Wonderful elements, coupled with the background shapes and colors makes me want to send you a letter for your mailbox. Love it.

  2. Lindsay, this is so cute – I’m on my way to try one now! Thanks for the inspiration. You give so much to others, I wish I could give back to you. Have a beautiful day!

  3. I really love how your Zentangle turned out. I have wondered about zentangle and saw some books on it but your video really makes me want to try it out. I think you thought it was kinda putzy for a video but I think it was fine… after all Zentangle is Fancy Doodle Art. If i saw someone out on their porch doing da Zentangle I would think it was a wonderful way to spend a (precious few) beautiful day outside creating.

  6. I really loved doing this one even though it took me a couple of trys to get reasonable drawing done. LOL. I know, hard to believe that someone could screw up a simple fun drawing. I guess I should have done a warm up first.

  7. I did this zentangle on a piece of card stock and made it into a card for my granddaughter who has been living in Germany for the past year and a half. Although she loves it there, we know her heart is partly here and always will be – a fitting saying and a beautify whimsical picture. Thanks you.

  8. Love this whimsical picture. I would love to see you do more of them. The voice over microphone was great. Your voice was nice and clear. Thanks for doing this and everything else you do…..Linda

  9. Awesome! Zentangle is really fun, but I have never attempted such an ambitious one. You blow me away with what you tackle, make it look so easy and of course, your results are amazing. You are a very talented young lady!

  10. Excellent! I enjoyed that so much! No seriousness in this voice over. lol I had a smile on my face the whole time and was actually chuckling in places. Speaking of which, No, I haven’t read any good books lately. I actually just took all my books out of my craft room and made a library in one of my (sigh) empty bedrooms. lol
I loved your art journal also, I just love whimsical, it makes me feel so peaceful.
I was thinking the opposite of random might be structured?
I’m not sure if I’ll try this or not, I’m just not artistic enough. I tend to be more ,,,,, structured, lol
    Thanks Lindsay, great job! 😉
