How to Line an envelope & Make a Quick Card!

Hi Friends! Do you ever need a last-minute card to send? Or maybe you want to make a stationery set to give as a  gift or sell at a craft fair? Well today I’ll show you how to line and envelope and make a chic and trendy card in under 5 minutes!

I think it took me 10 minutes to make the set of three! Talk about a great craft fair idea and you can do it affordably using supplies from our sponsor Papermart:

  • white envelopes
  • scrapbook paper
  • cream cardstock
  • organza ribbon
  • adhesive
  • ink pads
  • embossing folder and die cut machine
  • Optional: Clear bags for packaging up your card sets for sale-I like the 6″x9″ size

  1. Measure envelope from under the glue on the flap to the bottom of the envelope. Measure the width minus 1/8″ Cut paper scrapbook paper to that size.
  2. Trace the flap of the envelope on the scrapbook paper and cut on the lines.
  3. Insert liner into envelop and attach with a bit of glue.
  4. To make the card emboss the front panel of a card with and embossing folder and fold in half. Ink the raised design if desired.
  5. Adhere a strip of leftover scrapbook paper to the front and tie a ribbon around that area.

I hope you try this easy cardmaking idea and if you need a large quantity of envelopes, ribbon or any other packaging supplies please check out Papermart and don’t forget to tell them Lindsay sent you. Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

  2. Love the card & envelope very pretty.

  3. Just received my first order from Papermart today, based on a variety of tutorials you have given. I was wondering if you might create a list for the suppliers you use consistently and mention which video you used their product on. As I was ordering I was trying to remember which of the dozens of projects you used paper mart products on so I could order the supplies you suggested in one shipment. By the way – PaperMart was incredibly fast, and shipping was very reasonable.

  4. Love, love, love this!!

  5. This is super awesome! Thanks for the tips & tricks! I wanna try ;)

  8. I’ve just used this technique. I needed an envelope fast and only had Christmas ones that were the right size…used your method, changed it out of the Christmas ‘mood’ by covering it up with my card matching paper and voila’ got it to the mail carrier just in the nick of time.

  9. Going to adapt this for my wedding invitations for next year. Thanks Lindsay…..saved me stack of money, just need to find appropriate embossing g folder , any suggestions?. Not much suitable here in uk, have done quick search without much luck, anybody help?..

    • how about a damask or floral design? The Embossing folder I used was Tim Holtz, do you have access to to his folders, it is made by sizzix. It is only a US A2 size thouhgh, Crafter’s companion probabaly has some good alternatives for you in the UK:)

  10. Great card and lined envelope video. Where did you get that great folder? Never saw one like that before. Please let me know the name of the company and folder. Thanks. Edna Burgess

  12. Starting June 22nd, Joann’s is having a sale on Darice embossing folders — 2 for $5.

  13. Darice has been having embossing folders at AC Moore in Maine for $1.99 a piece…needless to say, I went CRAZY!

  14. By the way, any of you in the Augusta, Maine area or towards Rockland that might have the desire to go in on an order from Papermart, let me know! I’d love to get a group together to order.

  15. I love love your Eiffel Tower, fleur de lis and Paris embossing video. What a great gift it would be to receive a pkg of cards. I am ready to get going and use for thank you gifts. Could you tell me which pink and green…brand and colors… you used to brush over the embossing area? They matched very well together. Thanks for the video. One of my favorites.

  16. Another fun video Lindsay, love the lined envelopes, classy look. ~Diane

  17. Loved this video and your awesome cards and envies! I never heard of the brand of ink pads you mentioned. Wow! I cannot believe the prices at Papermart. I cannot get prices anything close to what you get, especially for that size of clear envie and ribbon. Green with envy here! Thanks for sharing.
