Hello friends! Wow, I could have used an extra 8 hours in this week! I was right out strait it seemed. I am looking forward to some relaxing this weekend (between scouts and softball that is!) If you have some downtime this weekend why not try something new? Like sketching and coloring with your colored pencils. This is a viewer request of how to paint a lady slipper in traditional colored pencils. I used Prismacolors but try whatever you have before buying new:)

I have the same problem with my Kindle which is android based, I downloaded VideoTube app so I can watch youtube on it. It has to do with their updates, sometimes it works fine then it stops LOL!

Great video Lindsay. The Prisma pencils you used to color with are just regular colored pencils, not watercolor? Im confused, I thought you needed to use a blender pen, baby oil or forgot the other name of solution name to blend the color? I believe you said you used a piece of watercolor paper to color on, right? There are so many kinds of
pencils its hard to keep straight what your using with what.

these are not watercolor, you can use baby oil if you want to blend them more (usually I do that on white paper but I like to use the pencils strait on colored paper because it dilutes the color a bit) One pencil, lots of techniques!

First, you are an inspiration. I could not find you on facebook to make a comment. I struggled on how to attach die cut sentiments without ripping then. I had a great idea, after going to bed, and came up with a great idea. I can use my Mod Podge and brush the backside. I can lift the sentiment with tweezers without tearing. It works great.

great idea! I had a ZIG glue pen “two way glue” it was called that worked great for die cuts, it looks like a thick marker and it is light blue. You can use it as a permanent or temporary adhesive. You might look it up if you glue a lot of die cuts:)

I have to say, you are absolutely AMAZING!!! You make me want to clean out my basement to secure a better art area (and I hate the basement….yikes)! Anyway, I am watching all your earlier “ask a crafter” videos. Question: Is gesso really just flat latex paint? Really?? I just went into our garage and found a gallon can of Ben Moore white latex primer. I have just poured it into smaller containers for my uses to prime journal pages etc. Will this work? Suddenly, common sense tells me (after listening to you) that this is ok to use as a primer on whatever I need gesso for and I can stop buying commercial gesso at my art supply store.

yes, use it, you are fine, acrylic is actually higher grade than latex. I bought a gallon of gesso at mardens on sale ($10 can you imagine!?!) and it is flat white paint, I could not tell the difference honestly. It will be just dandy on your pages my dear:)

Great work once again Lindsay! Thanks for sharing all that stuff. You’re a great teacher to me! Thank you! I tried this project yesterday but I didn’t have prismacolor pencils. I said I’ll try with mine (Polychromos-Faber castell) but they weren’t so soft and they didn’t mix that well… the white was poor and didn’t saw. Is the prismacolor a softcolor like Coloursoft Pencils by Derwent?

yes they are similar but prismas are a little more creamy:) Polychomos are oil based and more transparent.

Is it possible to post a supply list for this project? Or to just have one emailed to me? I’d like to know specifically which pencil colors were used for this drawing. I really like it.
