Aw, heck, why not? Let’s giveaway more stamps!

Howdy folks! I am feeling pretty darn happy tonight! That storm that might dump 10-15″ of snow on us seems to have shifted a bit so snowfall total tomorrow is now forecasted at 3″-5″, I am relieved because we still have so much snow yet to melt here and I think the kids are out of snow days. Of course I only checked one weather site because I liked that forecast LOL! I’m an optimist I guess! I was playing with some new colored pencils and stamps from About Art Accents yesterday and using the inspiration at Oriental Stamp Art I made this card:

DCF 1.0

The challenge at Oriental Stamp Art was to use the folded circles on a card. I also had some stamps from About Art Accents to give away, the winner will receive the 3 dragonfly stamps I used (new ones though LOL!) and a $10 gift certificate (Thanks About Art Accents!) I’m going to show you how I made this card. I used a brand-new supply, Metallic watercolor pencils by Derwent,  I’m not sure what I think of them, I’ll let you be the judge:

I think if I look at these pencils not as metallic colored pencils but as opaque colored pencils or faux bleach look colored pencils I will like them more. It’s all about how you look at things sometimes! I wanted to show you the full stamp set the dragonfly stamps came from, it is normally $20 but it is on sale now for $10! And if you have any non-sale rubber in your order at About Art Accents you can use the coupon code Lindsay10% to save 10% on the regular priced stuff.

I can’t wait to use the snail next, they are so cute and what a bargain, I would not wait if you like them because I have no idea how long the sale will last. So, do you want to win? Well then, just leave a comment and I will pick a winner at random next Tuesday. Yep, that’s it, nifty huh? Thanks to About Art Accents for providing me with stamps to give away and thanks to you for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

  21. When I first saw I thought it doesn’t look like colored pencils. Wouldn’t have thought to wet the stamp and color it in that way. The folded circles are a good way to use up scraps of the double sided paper. (I don’t know what to do if I like both sides). I like the folded circles, but on a diagonal. Love all your frugal ideas;) I like the effects of the pearlx (sp?) stuff but does it rub off?

  44. Love this card! The folded circle art reminds me so much of a pillow my Mom made for me many years ago. The technique on the pillow has a name, but I can’t remember it right now. It was “something” windows I think. Each square on the pillow front looks like your folded circles, and she put different cloth behind each window. Hopefully someone will know what I’m talking about, LOL! 🙂

  50. Your cards are really pretty. I do like the pearlex powder you used, that is so cool! I hope I win!

Actually, to add to the disappointment about some metallic products, I saw some reviews on some metallic ink pads and the person said they didn’t think they were metallic enough, but recommended it still because you can just add perfect pearls and then it will look great. I wondered why one wouldn’t just use perfect pearls? Anyhow, thanks for sharing your experiences with the pencils!

  56. Great card and their stamps are awesome but I seldom order anything on-line from the States as most companies charge too much to ship to Canada – which is usually just not justified. One company said they would charge only the cost of postage which was about $3.11 and they charged me almost $15.00.

Oh, you may already be aware, but I’ll mention this just in case it’s not just my computer … and you’re not aware … but the (what I assume to have been) photo for the link to the “About Art Accents” stamp sheet didn’t come through, at least on my computer (I got a VERY large rectangle with one of those tiny little figures in the center that you get to let you know there was supposed to a pic of something there, but it didn’t download for whatever reason). However, I decided to try right clicking on it, and then clicking on “Open link in new tab”. And it worked! When I looked at the new tab, I could see the entire sheet of stamps that you referred to above! You know what? Your right! That snail is EXTRAORDINARILY cute! Ans YOU have an AMAZING gift and I can’t WAIT to see what you come up with next! Happy crafting!

If I am in a rush I just use a glue stick to pop it on a claer block, sometimes I paint Aleens Tack It on the back to make it permanently sticky and other times I use cling foam if I have some on hand. It all works;) If I do not have cling cushion on the stamp I stamp on a mouse pad or use a curved block to get a good image:)
