WOYWW: Ask a Crafter is Back!

Hello friends! I missed desk hopping last week, so much to do, so I made a point to snap a picture of my creative chaos and share it today for What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday:

woyww_10_9_13

I have a busy 2 weeks coming up so I am busting out projects and tutorials to try and stay ahead. In the midst of my creative fury I decided to bring back the popular feature Ask a Crafter. If you want your question answered in an upcoming episode you can leave it in the comments section.

That’s it for me today! Time to walk the dog then get busy with burlap in the studio! Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

  1. I want to start doing videos and posting them on Youtube, but Im afraid. What are the hidden unknown things to be aware of loading videos to Youtube? Is it just as simple as record and post? Also what kind of video camera do you use and how do you mount you camera so it watches overhead and not upside down? Love your blog!!

  6. Don’t worry about answering this question if you can’t; it’s just a thought! Please, do you know anything about altering dominoes, Lindsay? I have seen some on people’s blogs, but I don’t know how they go about altering something made of plastic??? Julie Ann xx #38

  8. I see on a lot of blogs that artists are journaling…not only personal commehts but also their artwork. I would appreciate suggestions as to the actual, fundamental PAPER to begin with….a new “composition” book, an old book, scrapbook pages? Are some of the papers actually glued together to add more substance to work on? This may seem pretty elementary, but………

  9. I see you use a silpat mat instead of a smooth craft mat and have wondered if working on the silpat leaves a texture mark in your projects? It seems to have a weave. I am curious because the craft mats can scoot around and wonder if the silpat stays in place better while you work?

  10. Love the glue dots tip…….I’ll save the paper as I use the roll of glue dots and use that when I make my own. We’ll be able to make tiny ones, which eliminate having to cut the glue dots in half. I’ve even cut them in quarters.

  18. Hi Lindsay, Glad you are starting Ask a crafter again. Here’s my question: I have a couple of of “background “? stamps by Hero Arts I bought a few years ago – one looks like a piece of wood (2 X 21/2”) with a little grain. How do I use it? What kind of ink? It looks blotchy when I try dye ink. Any ideas? Thanks, Mo

  25. Can you help me, I am trying to get into card making and other paper crafts again but have only a miniscule budget and limited access to resourses (I live in london, england, and our craft material avalibility is limited and very expensive, I long for walmart, Michaels or the dollar store), so given this and mobility issues I am reliant on uk amazon which is limited and pot luck half the time. Enough rambling, my question for you is this, over here the current style is to mat and layer cards with up to 6 layers, using mirror board, pearlescent and other expensive card stocks, can you the godess of the frugal crafting tell me how I can master this effect without wasting so much expensive card stock or it sagging in the middle, where ive layered frames of card and tried to fill with cheaper materials?
finally a huge thank you for making my nights of pain caused insomnia so much more bareable, I hope you continue to keep the world of crafters inspired for a long time to come.
    with best wishes
