I lost my mind in the paper aisle {and a monster card}

Howdy folks! I had a great time shopping at Hobby Lobby with friends on Friday. There is something about that “new store smell” a 50% off sale and being in a giddy mood that makes me lose all sense of reason when shopping. More paper, really, yes apparently I needed more paper (like a hole in the head!) LOL! We did not even get through the whole store, it was huge! It had a little too much furniture and decor stuff than I thought a craft store should have but oh well, if it keeps them in business I’m all for it. We now have a Joann Fabrics, AC Moore and now Hobby Lobby all within a 1/2 mile of each other. I wonder if the economy can support it? Anyway, I needed to make a card (and decide if I am going to keep the $10 stack of 180 sheets of chevron paper) so I turned on the video camera and you can see how I make a card with no planning whatsoever. And yes, those are my jammies.

Well, that was something else huh? Here are some photos of the card.

I made a gift tag too with the scraps.

The party for my nephew (the kid this card is for) is later today! I hope he likes his Boom-Whackers! Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

  4. I managed yesterday to get through Hobby Lobby without buying any paper but I did find a couple of 40% off stamps I couldn’t live without. The first time I went in there I was overwhelmed also. Don’t miss the fabric side where they have awesome ribbons. Wait until they are fory to fifty cents off

  5. LOL! Your stream of consciousness is very entertaining…and very relatable! I went to a scrapbook expo on Friday and lost my mind without coupons.

    Love the card and you’ve inspired me to start my halloween cards today. Thanks, as always!

    Oh and boomwackers are a blast. You can rubberband them together and use a wooden spoon to play a big xylophone…and lots of other noisy fun things!

    Enjoy the party…

  6. I left a comment on YouTube about how much I love this card. It is adorable. I pinned it. Also wanted to say–I love that Chevron paper stack. I’m good about not buying paper but given the opportunity to get that stack for $10–consider yourself an enabler. I think you will be glad you did not return it. Wish I had some–my Hobby Lobby is a long way from home which is a good excuse/justification for me to buy A LOT when I go there.

  9. Boom rackers! Oh what a good auntie you are. Your sister will thank you over and over again……and your nephew will love them. Great card and congratulations on using some of your Chevron stack. Our Hobby Lobby opened over Labor Day weekend (I too was a first timer) so I am still making my way through it. And yes I watched the whole video (and put a card together.)Thank you for sharing your world!

  10. Don’t worry about the economy supporting all three craft stores – we have those three plus a Michael’s and all are ALWAYS busy. Crafters abound! 😉 Love your creativity, as always.

  13. Love your card. That is pretty much how I make all my cards. I just let the “paper” decide what it wants to do. Your videos are never boring!
    Your nephew will love the boom whackers but your sister, not so much!

  14. Lindsay, you crack me up! this is how most of my cards get made, not to mention my scrapbook pages. Love your can do attitude (stop beating yourself up for purchasing the pack of paper -you will use it). Thanks for the video, entertaining as always.
