Easy Masked One Layer Cards!

Here is a fun, easy project to make this weekend. You don’t need many supplies and I bet you have everything you need on hand. The ginkgo stamps are by About Art Accents and the Sentiment is by Stampin Up! PS you can use this coupon code to save 10% off regular prices at About Art Accents: Lindsay10% PSS Most of the Ginkgo stamps are 50% off!!! Do you feel a spree coming on?

Tip: To save money on cards and envelopes wait until the large craft stores (Joann, ACmoore and probably the other ones too) put their packs of 50 5″x7″ card/envelope packs on sale. They come in white, cream and kraft and go on sale for $5 several times a year, especially around Christmas. You can get a card base and envelope for 10 cents and no cutting! They are not the thickest cards out there but they are perfect for this technique!

By masking I give the illusion of depth. Notice how the circle in the center seems to be on top? Neat huh? Watch the video to see how it is done!

Mistakes happen! Check this out, it is my favorite card because of a mistake I made while masking.

Notice the ginkgo branch in front of the center circle, I forgot to mask the circle when I started to stamp! So I grabbed my colored pencils and colored it so it looks like it is there on purpose! Shhhhh…don’t tell anyone. 😀 I hope you give this easy card a try. Sometimes it is good to get back to our stamping roots and revisit old techniques. Have a great weekend and til next time happy crafting!

  4. This is gorgeous, Lindsay, and I particularly like the “mistake” – it gives it a much more dimensional look which is far more artistic. The colours are fabulous. I think I’ve got a gingko stamp somewhere… It’s an unusual leaf and makes for a very different effect. Great stuff.

Thanks for your lovely comment – so glad you like my new room! I am so excited about it – even the light is right in there.

    • The next to last image (looks like a bunch of cards laying on the table close up) is the video, sometimes it takes a while to show up, click that or you can click the link on the right side of my blog where it says “My Crafty Videos” and watch it there on my youtube channel. Sometimes if you use internet Explorer there are issues, if you can use Firefox or google Chrome as a browser it helps a lot;)
