WOYWW & “Ask a Crafter” on hold til September

Hey folks! There is a radio term called “in the can” as in pre-recording something to air later, like you are canning vegetables for winter, preserving them so to speak. Well, everything on this blog over the past week has been “in the can.” Without going into detail we have had a health scare, been in the hospital and seen  specialists, traveled to Tufts and we are getting things nailed down, I am a wife and mother first and a craft blogger second. My focus is on my family and I have to cut back on non essentials. Since I spend more time on the “Ask a Crafter” videos than anything else I am putting them on hold until fall.  I will reply to all of the questions that were asked either on my blog or on my youtube channel and continue to answer any questions that arrive that way (I can do that anywhere-that’s the thing with hospitals and doctor appointments, lots of waiting!) but the long videos will have to wait for now. OK that’s it, this blog is light and fun and all about the crafts so let’s get to my desk for What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday:

DCF 1.0

So, Sunday night I needed a crafty escape (I cannot stress enough how important it is to create when you are worried or stressed, it takes your mind off of it because it literally shuts off the left side of your brain [the analytic, practical, worrying side] and turns on the right side of your brain, the fun creative side!) and I played with some new stamp show stuff and made a few videos that I posted this week. And look, it is all still there, apparently I am cutting cleaning out of my schedule too as a non-essential task LOL!

Well that’s if for me! Just a little update 😉 If you want to see more crafty desks then hop on over to Julia’s blog and join in the WOYWW fun! Happy crafting!

  1. Bless you and good luck. Your desk looks like mine. I should do that What’s on your workdesk or should I say kitchen counter.

  2. Will be praying that all goes well! You do such a great job with your videos–but our families always come first! I have been worried all week about a dental issue, and today is the appointment, so crafting has really helped to take my mind off of it. I know what you mean there. Take care of your family, and take care of you! Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #103

  7. Lindsay, be gentle with yourself. I just had to put my husband into assisted living and I still feel “guilty” that I was passed the point of helping him daily. But -he is getting the needed care, and I am back to crafting once again. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. See you in the fall! Judith

  9. Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I hope that it was a scare and nothing more. I totally understand the need to continue your art and crafts and how they relieve some of the anxiety for even a needed short time. I’ve been going through this myself for almost a year.

  10. Hi Lindsay,
I pray that the health problems will be resolved and end up being only a scare. It shows us how really precious life is when things like this happen and how we need to appreciate each other every day regardless of the little things. Play when you need to and I’m sure all your followers will keep you and your family in their thoughts and prayers.

Please keep us posted on the health of your loved ones.

  36. I hope things get better for you & your family quickly. I, like many others who follow you am sending you good thoughts & prayers. I have suffered from chronic pain for 10+ yrs & Fibromyalgia for 5+ art has literally saved my life. Sitting in my favorite chair painting or working in my art journal is one of the few times I don’t notice the pain in every part of my body. I am very lucky to have a family who encourages my art (& like you a husband who doesn’t mind a little crafty chaos.)
Thank you for bringing me (& so many others) joy with your enthusiasm for crafting.

  40. Lindsay you have been a gift from God to me. I wait for you shows all the time- I love your craft ideas and you have a great sense of humor. There has been times in my life I was down and you always lifted my spirit. Yes unless the house is on fire (which has not happened) I watch the video to the end.
Now the important thing is your family. I have 2 adult kids and I’m still there mother in a time a need. You need to care for them and I fully understand. What about doing reruns? I like most crafter would always have time for a review- remedial crafting I call it. This way you can spend the time with your family and I keep to enjoy you video.
Yes you and your family our in my pray. One piece of advise -which by the way I did not follow when I was in the caregiver role- Take time for your self. If any says can I help you PLEASE SAY YES. It is so important to care for your self you will be a better for it
God Bless you and your family

  43. Lindsay life with your family is more important than anything else. Your crafting can be a release but if you feel pressured to do it it’s not worth it so good for you for taking the time off so to speak. We’ll all be here when you get back, God willing, and in the mean time we’ll pray for your families well being. Take care of each other. Hugs,
