WOYWW: You’ve Got Style!

*** Hellow WOYWWers, you can enter my stamp set give away here!****

Happy What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday folks! I got to play with the brand new stamp set Style Girl from Pink Persimmon and I made this card and envie:

Unfortunately I ended up covering over the background I decopagued with a sewing pattern and spray misted but luckily I snapped a pic of my desk while the card was in process, I hated to cover up all of that inky goodness but it is a BACKGROUND and it is supposed to be in the background right?

I stamped the chic lady on a panel that I tore straight out of a DCVW mat stack (they are such a  time save because they are 6.5″x4.5″, perfect to layer on a 5″x7″ card!) I stamped the lady again on a yellow print paper (MME) and cut it out and glued it over the  main panel. I added color with markers from my Tria Fashion color collection from Letraset, the colors were chic without me having to worry about it which is good because I have a tendency to be a bit gaudy with my color choices 😀

Well, that is all for today, I am sending this card to my mother, she is an avid sewer so she will enjoy it (plus I think it is a law that you have to adore any card your kid makes you LOL!) Til next time happy WOYWW and Happy crafting!

  1. Lovely card! I adore your bowl of buttons, but I would mistakenly grab a handful and toss them in my mouth if they were at my desk near my bowl of candy. I get distracted like that. dani #18

  2. Oh I do understand about hating to cover up the backgrounds, it’s hard for me too! lol Especially ones that you created yourself! But your card does look lovely and your desk looks happy! waving the #50 from the hills of North Carolina 🙂

  3. LOL! I swear my Mom had that McCalls pattern in the 60s 🙂 And yes, I get the cover-up issues. Sometimes whatever it is is so lovely I just can’t – I have a drawer full of “backgrounds” I can’t use unless I can feature them somehow.

  4. Backgrounds are my weak spot, so I am glad to see yours, if only for a minute! 🙂 I am late to the appreciation of sewing notions and love this look. It does remind me of vintage McCalls! p.s. What kind of loveliness lurks in those binders behind the cards? It sure looks organised!

  7. I love the card! I understand now why you were reluctant to cover up the background-it is quite fabulous. That’s probably why I don’t make backgrounds; I just go for patterned papers. Then I don’t feel so bad about covering them up. Judy #139

  9. What an awesome card! Quick question, you stamped the stamp twice, once on plain and then on patterned paper for the dress or did you color that dress? If you cut it, then you have major cutting skills! If you colored it, then wow. You just have skills period!

  10. Hi there Lindsay – thanks for your reply to the video query already have an account with you tube so have done it that way but not posted yet.. will do it on a scheduled post as have uploaded it – found out how to compress it too which is all very handy mind you will probably forget when go to do another one!!
And sorry but I simply could not have covered up all that inky goodness even as nice as the bit that goes over you cannot enjoy it when you know all the luscious bit is underneath.. never quite can mange so use plainer paper when it is showing that little and save the lovely bits for smaller overlays – my way I know, but hey not downplaying your card – love the images myself so olde worlde! take care, God bless, Shaz in oz.x happy WOYWW #23
PS do have some of those original pattern still could use them if we haven’t thrown them out – not quite sure on that one!
