Here is a fun technique to try: Shaker boxes! Yup, I’m kicking it old school today. If you have been scrapbooking for more than a few years you probably remember these were really hot about 7 years ago. I decided to whip one up yesterday for a birthday tag:
I used another shipping tag (so glad I bought them in bulk!) and stamped a monster in the middle, then cut a circle in a scrap of patterned cardstock. I flipped the scrap over and taped a scrap of transparency over it. Then I made a frame around the “window” with foam tape (I had to cut it lengthwise to make it skinny enough) and I filled the frame with seed beads and glitter flakes. Don’t remove the foam tape backing until after you put the shakables in or they will get stuck to the tape! Then I removed the tape backing and placed my stamped tag face down on top and pressed well to secure.
Other ideas for shaker boxes: Beach scrapbook pages (fill with sand and sea glass), Easter and Halloween pages (fill with candy colored beads or stamped candy) Patriotic cards and pages (will with foil confetti stars-don’t send them to OWH if they have glitter though!) You can even make a fairy wand with a sparkly shaker star on the end. Use your imagination and til next time happy crafting!
