Howdy crafters! It’s Wednesday and time for What’s on your workdesk Wednesday! Truth be told I don’t have much to share with you on my desk this week because yesterday I spent the day shopping, visiting, lunching and having a whole lot of birthday fun and Monday I spent about 8 hours in my twin daughters bedroom trying to get it cleaned and organized. The girls were troopers and by the end of the day the walls had been washed, clothes sorted, nooks and crannies cleaned out and toy boxes de-junked so as a reward I decided to spruce up their shabby (and not in a chic way) writing desk. Best of all it took 15 minutes!
Here is how I did it. I grabbed several sheets of pretty pink and green patterned papers and cut them in to quarters (6″x6″). Then I arranged them in a grid on the desktop and used bits of double stick tape in the corners of each piece of paper to adhere it. Then I simply covered it with clear Contact paper. Easy Peasy and it sure looks better than it did…I should have taken a before picture. This was my childhood desk and I am glad that it is still useful for my girls:)
Oh, by the way I painted the chair years ago, I just used masking tape yo make the gingham grid on the seat and hand painted some primitive roses on the back, decoupaged on some dragonflies and sealed it with clear acrylic varnish. Not bad for a yard sale find!
Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
