A “Clearly Cool” Blog Hop with Creative Cuts and More!

Don’t you just love the monthly bl0g hops with Creative Cuts and More? I love to see what the rest of the Design Team Divas have in store, and it’s fun to win prizes along the way! If you have jumped into the blog hop here be sure to start at the beginning by visiting the Die Cut Diva blog. This month’s theme is acetate (clear plastic), it is one of the trendiest products around and you can get nearly all of the die-cuts that are available at CC&M cut with this stuff (I’m talking hundreds folks!) Here is what I made with die cut acetate:

We are not talking flimsy transparencies here, Creative Cuts and More offers various thicknesses of acetate such as a medium thickness perfect for these Purse bags:

Here is a closer look:

To color the bags I used Ranger Alcohol ink (this stuff should be a staple in every craft room!) to dab color to the inside of the acetate bags before assembling. Tip: Instead of buying an ink applicator and felts I made my own by taking a small wooden block (you can get a pack of small wooden child’s alphabet blocks from the dollar store or snag one from your kids toy box 😉 and then I glued Velcro (the rough hook side) to the 4 flat sides of the block.  I bought white felt at the craft sore when it was 10/$1 and cut it into 1″  squares and they will stick to the Velcro block and you can have 4 colors going at once and your fingers stay clean holding onto the remaining 2 sides!

I also used alcohol ink on the wall hanging. I used 2 sizes of star die cuts and punched holes with my crop-a-Dial before adding eyelets and fiber to hook them together. Tip: Use the larger sewing eyelets that come in two parts and the back side of the project was look just as good as the front. They are called 1/8″ eyelets but they are larger than the scrapbook ones, they fit the hole made with the larger punch on the Crop a dial perfectly.

I printed the frame on an ink-jet transparency, you can use regular dye based markers and ink on them, for regular acetate and transparencies try solvent inks and markers!

The pretty clear transparency frames featured on these projects I made by printing on an ink-jet transparency right on my home printer. I used the font DB boho frames and DB Boho Banners. The Believe stamp is by inkadinkado and I stamped with regular dye based ink (stampin up) on the transparency. Tip: If you want to stamp on regular acetate or a regular transparency use Solvent ink such as Staz-On or plain old acrylic paint. I used my famous “hot glue dew drops” (another great used for alcohol ink!) to embellish these pieces as well as some Doodlebug adhesive jewels. Ready to shop?
