I sure do like long titles don’t I? Mother’s Day is Sunday and I thought I would share another quick gift idea with you. I bought this orchid at Wal Mart for $17, if you can believe it (just hoping I can keep it alive long enough to give it to mom;) and I thought I would be nice to make a cute pocket tag to go along with it that could hold a tea bag or two an of course we need a card to go with it!

I printed my Daffodil #3 and Sketchy Orchid digital stamp on vellum then heat embossed it. It is easy to heat emboss a printed image on vellum but before you print you need to have your heat gun plugged in near your computer, have a jar of embossing powder open and ready to go and have a tray or scrap of paper handy to catch the embossing powder. Just print, sprinkle and heat. I did the images one at a time so the ink wouldn’t dry on me.

After I embossed this I used my Bic Mark its to color in my design, I used the darker colors first in the shadow areas then added the lighter shades and blended them. It is so quick and easy! I then used my Mark-Its to color the clear rhinestones so they would match my card! Love my Bics!

I used my sewing machine to stitch the vellum panels to my projects. To get around the “humps” in the heart I turned the wheel on my machine with one hand while guiding the paper with the other because I only had one of those beautiful window cards from Creative Cuts & More and I didn’t want to risk ruining it by sewing too fast!
To make a symmetrical tag simply snip off one corner or a rectangle piece of paper then flip it over and line it up with the other corner and snip along its edge, no template needed!

Now, lets see what the Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff Design Team has been up to with the digi stamps this week! On a sad note my good friend and DT member Mitzi has stepped down from her full time DT position. Her family and work obligations have left little time for stamping but I’m sure we will see some fabulous work from her in the future, will miss you Mitzi! On to more positive news Michele Roos who was to be our Guest Designer for May has graciously stepped up to fill Mitzi’s shoes and we are so glad to have her. You can see Michelle’s work here. Don’t forget to check out the rest of the Designers too:
Janet (make sure you wish her a happy birthday 😉
Thanks for stopping by, be sure to check out the designers and leave them some love 🙂 Til next time happy crafting!
Absolutely gorgeous projects, Lindsay! Orchids are my favorite flower btw….hubby surprised me with one several years ago and I had no idea how to take care of it – didn’t realize all the special TLC they need…so it didn’t last long…lol…
Welcome to the team, Michele! I can’t thank you enough for taking over for me – you will really, really enjoy being a part of Lindsay’s team! YAY!!

Love it all! The card is beautiful nice stitching. I like that pocket tag idea for the tea. I might have to lift that to make for mothers day. Orchids are so pretty aren’t they? My grandmother was so good at taking care of them…me however not so much. I try every year but 😦 no luck…I guess they need water someone told me 😉

I hear you Row, the label on the plant says to place 3 ice cubes a week on the soil, I’m afraid to do anything, I just hope it hangs in there til Sunday!

Does it have to be printed in vellum? Or can it be printed and embossed on paper?

vellum gives you more “wet ink” time for embossing but I’m sure it will work on paper if you are fast enough;) cated paper such as Die cuts with a view or coordnations cardstock will work well. As for smooth cardstock anything that feels slick and smooth to the touch should work too!
