My First Crafty Secrets Challenge and a Freebie too!

I was invited by Darlene to participate in the crafty secrets challenge this week at Split Coast Stampers. I got a slew of these yummy vintage stamps for Christmas and I have been meaning to try the challenge before but this week with the “love” theme I couldn’t resist. Here is what I made.

Heart pocket by Lindsay Weirich 2009

I’m sure it will pale in comparison to some of the gorgeous work there but ,oh well, I’m having fun and I like how it came out. Want to make a cute heart pocket too? Well here’s how: Start with a square of paper, I’m using 12×12 since it comes that way and fold it like this:

fold paper in half diagonally
open it up and fold it diagonaly (other corners)
now fold it in half like this
now in half the other way
pull opposite corners together to make a square/diamond

Place the template on top and trace, line ip the point of the heart with the folded paper and the bumps with the open paper.
cut it out
unfold and gather like this
punch a hole through the center layers
thread a ribbon through, tie and hang
A hanging heart pocket, that was easy!

Download the printable template here. It is sized for 8 1/2″ and 12″ paper. There is a folding diagram on it as well. The cool this is that you can recycle this from year to year, just untie the ribbon, fold it up and store it somewhere flat.

I will make 3 of these and fill them with goodies for my children on Valentines day, I think they will like the “love bugs” stamp too, or maybe a House Mouse stamp, the kids are crazy about House Mouse right now!

No, I did not forget about my SCAL Cricut friends, You can download an adjustable svg file here so you can make these any size you like (although it is just as easy to do it by hand LOL!) Just fold it as shown above.

Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting!
