Clean & Simple Dragonfly Card

Edit 5/4/12: Hey, Annette over at About Art Accents/Art Neko gave me permission to offer my blog readers 10% off regular AND sale price items in her shop (and her prices are reasonable to begin with!) just use the coupon code: Lindsay10% in the PayPal customer comments box. Now, go on, check out their stamps, you won’t be sorry! Thanks Annette for letting me pass on the savings to may awesome blog readers!

I was puttering in my studio last weekend playing with some stencils and spray mist making a mess when I took my wet stencil and pressed it on a scrap of cardstock. I liked it so much I used it as a base of this card. All the stamps are by Art Neko/About Art Accents:

I like how the ATC frame has spots for rhinestones but unfortunately I did not have any oval ones so I made do with round ones.

TIP: Rhinestone are expensive, whenever you buy them get the clear ones and color them with a permanent marker like I did with an emerald-green one. that way you will not end up with a bag full of colors you will never use!

Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting!

a good friend

As soon as I saw this sentiment stamp from About Art Accents I wanted to make a friendship card:

Stamps: About Art Accents, Template: Lindsay's stamp stuff

It was a quick card, I stamped the sentiment and dragonfly (2) on cream cardstock, colored them with prismacolor markers and spritzed them with my homemade glimmer mist, easy and elegant, gotta love that!

The hexagon box is from the Steampunk SVG templates, the paper I used on the box is from a Lettering Delights paper pack and I arranged it on the printable box template in the Steampunk set before printing to save ink.

This qualifies for the following challenges: Alotta Rubberstamps (fall colors), C.R.A.F.T (insects), Crafty Pad (glitz and glitter), One Stop Craft (Oriental), Pocketful of posies (flowers/glitter: the background paper has metallic printing on it and is flowers),

Let’s Paint Fireworks!

Howdy folks, I hope you had a safe and fun 4th of July. We took the kids to see the fireworks for the first time and it was amazing, I even took 70 pictures of fireworks and most of them came out well! The challenge at oriental stamp art this week was fireworks so I thought I would do a tutorial video on painting some (I say painting but it is super easy, you need not be an artist!) here is a card with one of the papers I made. I will show you a scrapbook page later this week using the big firework paper. The dragonfly and sentiment rubber stamp is from About Art Accents and the little swatch of paper in the lower RH corner is from the Grunge Flowers CS from Nicecrane Designs (it covers up a stamping boo-boo ;)

Stamps: About Art Accents, Paper: Gold pattern 9DCWV), Inked Background (see video) Swatch on right (Nicecrane), Markers: Copic, Ink: Memento

So, wanna see how I made the “fireworks” paper I used on this card as well as two other fun techniques? Well have a gander at my new video:

Do try these easy techniques, they are fun! Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
