Sweet & Simple!

I had the idea to make the simple cards after seeing the sketch over at 2sketches4you. I gor the stamp from the dollar bin at JoAnns the other day (it’s one of the Studio G dollar stamps) and I thought of the cute button bits stamps from PTI (I want them but do not have them) and thought that this cherry stamp would be great to use in this fashion. I used a black marker to ink the stem and leaves and stamped that onto my punched circles then stamped the leaves again on a patterned green scrap and paper pieced it. Then I glued on the buttons, easy peasy!

Stamps: Crafty Secrets (hello sweetie) Studio G (cherries), cardstock: GP

For the card bases I cut a 11″x8.5″ white cardstock the long way to make 2-5.5″x4.25″ top fold cards. I used a cuttlebug folder (that a got with a set of dies for $2 at Big Lots in June) to emboss the front of the card, stamped “Hello Sweetie” on the front, tied on a ribbon and viola! It was done!

I wanted cool black and white envelopes for the cards but did not want to use up 2 sheets of this delicious paper to do it so I thought about it and trimmed the 12″x12″ sheet in half and using my scor-pal made the envelopes. I scored the envelope at 3.5″ and 9.25″ (you have to slide the paper down because there is no 1/4″ mark there) then I turned the paper and lined it up between the 3″ and 9″ and scored on the first triangle, then flipped the paper and scored the other side at the first triangle so it is symmetrical. Then I trimmed the rectangles on the top and bottom panels and glued up the bottom flap. It is great to get 2 envelopes form one sheet of paper! BTW if you want an envelope to cut in your cricut out of a 6″x12″ paper use the bb_envie file from my Envelope Bonanza SVG set 🙂 {{Shameless plug}}

This qualifies for the following challenges: 2sketches4you, All Sorts (paper piecing), Alphabet Challenge (punches), Aly’s Sunday (get dotty), Bee-Crafty (ribbons & Bows), I did It (anything goes), One Stitch at a time (punches), Sentimental Sundays (ribbon) and Stamptacular Sundays (buttons & bows)

Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
